Powdercoat Opinions, Please!
I am thinking of getting my wheels powdercoated like this, and wanted to get some feedback... Is it worth it? or are the painted centers enough?
Thanks in advance!

both are cool and unique. Just remember that its probably gonna take a while to do the whole rim and you will need another set of rims to have on the car in the mean time. I actually wish I could get my bullitts powdercoated in Black Chrome... that would be SWEEETTT!!! Good luck with what you decide.
the powdercoated option would be a very unique look - if cost is no object and you can afford to have the car up on jackstands for however long it takes to get the rims powdercoated (unless you've got spare rims) I would go that route.
Thanks for the responses so far.
I like Bullitt style wheels too, and growing up I had Cragar S/S's on a lot of my cars, but the problem is, is there are soooo many s197's with Bullitt wheels, that I am trying to go for something different.
Just curious, Procrastinator, how can you say that both don't work? They are unpainted from the factory...

I think the first option looks awesome. I would paint the lip though. Two colors on one rim I can live with, three is stretching it a bit too far I think.
I was thinking the same thing as cntchds. Red center cap and lip with black in the middle would look sweet, also I tried to get my aftermarket rims redone and they wouldn't leave a lip. Once they are dipped or sandblasted the lip is damaged. I think the only way to keep the lip is to take them to a machine shop and have the lip turned after they are painted, then back to the wheel shop to have them clearcoated. I ended up stripping my wheels and painting them myself (ALOT of work). I would second the idea of painting them yourself, just no need to strip them. A good rough sanding and the new paint should stick well. Clear it over with the wheel paint from Pep boys or the like.
Actually I had not talked to a powdercoater yet, so you are probably right, that I would be unable to keep an uncoated lip. Maybe paint will be the way to go, if I choose to go ahead. JMPATSFAN, do yours get chipped up at all? what paint did you use? Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone!
