Does anybody know of any companies that make a "flush" fuel door replacement for the 05? One that you would press a button on the inside of the car to open.

That's awesome. I like this one. Thanks for helping me spend another $500. Let's hope they come out with one for the 05+ Mustangs. They have ones for the past two generations. It only seems right.

Why is it such a big deal to have one that opens on itself? Only if the fuel door will have a lock would I even consider it. I don't like the fact that some angry/jealous ricer could easily open my fuel door and gas cap and go to town. :-(

I have sent them two emails and they say they are in the development stage. I like these becouse with the large "badge" in the rear you dont need a big billit fuel door. I think it will look dumb. this company can do really cool stuff and paint or andodize.... Its going to be big $$$$

Well I think having a smooth flush one would just look a little better, plus it will discourage others from opening it.

I'm amazed that Ford cut costs in such a simple area. You want to do that on the Taurus or whatever econobox you're selling, fine. But on the Mustang?

Bad move.

It's such a common item on most cars today, even the cheap Korean jobs, that it is embarassing they'd leave it out.

I'm getting one for the sole purpose of the lock. I hate knowing that someone could pop it open and dump somthing in there. All cars should come with locking gas doors and autodimming mirrors.

Not too worried about someone dumping something in the gas tank, as much as someone siphoning out the gas. Wal-Mart is consistantly out of siphon kits lately it seems. Try to find a locking gas cap there too, they will most likely be out.

I asked: Any near term plans for a 2005 Mustang electric kit? When?

Their reply:
Woody,
Thanks for your interest in Pro-Fit Linear Fueldoors. The design of our 05 Mustang fueldoor is completed and we are working on our parts suppliers. :bang: :bang: There is no firm release date at the moment.

Drew

Great! I want to add one of these to my car as well. I have some time to waste until then but I always enjoy hearing what the rest of you say about the new parts too. That way I can live vicariously through what you do ... for now.

Let us know. I think a lot of us want one. I'm looking for one that "blends" with the car. How did you get one this far in advance?

I always liked the ones that MGW offered for the SN95's, but now I see they don't even offer them anymore. I'd take another in anodized black like I had on my last car. It worked great, and installed in about 5 minutes.

It's for a sema car...i'm hoping to get the final pieces early enough to have painted to blend in also.
