All that shiny stuff would really look good on a Torch Red, that blue just doesn't cut it for shiny stuff !!

Bench buffer for the valve covers and good old sand paper and a dremel for the calipers. Figure on a day worth for both valve covers and a day for the front calipers.

The valve covers took about 3 months to start fading before a re-did them and then coated them with clear. The brake caliper are naked and still look great.

T-Town: You know better than that...

Have you done the rear calipers? I want to do this but need a little more info. What is the sand paper for? was the Dremel not enough? Could you take some pics a little farther away?

I am worried about rusting during the winter with the salt. I would like to give them a decent sanding to bring them back to life.

Thoughts?

...also, would clear coating them do the trick to prevent rust/oxidation?

If so, any advise on clearing the calipers? Any "be careful to protect...".

Thanks
Dan

Okay, I sanded and cleared my calipers.

Here's the issue...the aluminum portion of the front caliper (large portion) is holding up perfectly! However, the cast portion (steel?) of the front and both rear calipers are turning a greenish hue under the clear coat?

What is happening? Anyone have any experience with this? If they are cleared (4 coats) then there is definately no oxygen getting to them? Is the heat doing something? I used high-temp manifold clearcoat.

Thanks for any assistance.
