PM-12-A(GT/CS Side Scoops)

My GT/CS Side scoops came in today. I dry fitted them and they look good. Now I have to get them painted. KC hooked me up with some posters, calender, and some other nice gifts. THANKS KC! You da man . I'm still debating on drilling. Leaning torward...NO. A template is supplied if you decide to drill. The instructions state that PM-12-A should be applied to drilled holes. What's PM-12-A? ...some type of rust prohibitive? Where can you buy it? Is this just a Ford product, or available under another name?

BTW, The attached tape definitely doesn't look like it'll hold. The area where the tape is attached to the scoops is too recessed. The car surface will not have enough contact area IMO. Looks like I'll be buying some thicker 3M regardless of whether I decide to drill or not. I don't know, should I drill???????

Thanks again KC

I think it may be Super Adhesive ? I think KC made mention of that sort of thing , in that you would not have to drill holes (how sad)

I attached mine with just the factory supplied double sided tape, I did not want to drill holes into my car either. It's been about 5 months and they are holding tight.

I received mine from KC on the weekend. They are off to my painter on Friday. Personally I plan to drill the holes. Its a piece of mind confidence factor. The tape is more subject to failure. My Roush hood scoop is screwed and glued as is my CDC duck tail spoiler. Why do you think so many of these body pieces are taped AND mechanically fastened? Is loosing a side scoop worth the risk for the extra effort to do it right?

I am pretty sure the PM-12-1 is a primer or surface protectant. Will use it or something like it.

Have you looked at the template in your kit yet? Common sense, I know, but since it doesn't say in the instructions, only pictures, I'm assuming that you align the "paper" with the edge of the side panel and the crease in the upper panel, correct? I definitely want to make sure as I definitely do not want to be drilling additional holes. If the upper panel crease alignment is not perfect then the scoop will not proper set into the bottom indentation.

PM-12-A is rust inhibitor

MAke sure you use an alcohol wipe to clean the surface before installing the scoops.
