I may soon do the same. After you get yours done, start a thread or PM me with pix. I would be interested to see how it comes out.

Thanks,

Tom

That's it...I'm getting pinstripes with my kit.

Hopefully I'll get that going in July...gotta get one of the 1 pc 3d Carbon ducktails first.

If I'm being honest, it would look better balanced with the pin stripeing also on the insides of the wide stripes. Just does not work for me without.

Hey Tom,

One more question. What did you use to keep the space uniform while putting on the pinstripes?

I used 1.5" masking tape. I was told that the blue painter's style of tape would move around easily once it got wet, so masking tape was the way to go.

Just make sure you mark your centerline properly. My roof is not lined up exactly with the hood/trunk because I didn't have the entire car marked properly first. Take your time in doing this, it's very important. I will likely be re-doing my roof soon.

Thanks,

Tom

I think he was asking how you got the pinstripes spaced...the 1/4" spacing.

I'm curious too.

Yea, I was asking about the 1/4" pinstripe spacing.

Sorry for the confusion.

My mistake for not reading your question correctly.........sorry about that.

For the pinstripes, I used the main stripes to establish spacing. Just like I used 1.5" masking tape to center the car and then spaced the main stripes 1/4" off of the tape (for the 2" gap total), I spaced the pinstripes 1/4" off the main stripes.

I wondered about butting the stripes up directly against the tape, but I was recommended not to do this as its hard to keep the stripes from overlapping the tape, as well as if you butt the stripes up directly against the tape it makes it harder to squeegee out the air bubbles. I hope I explained that clearly enough.....

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

so you just eyeball the 1/4" spacing on each side of the tape (for the main stripes) and completely eyeball it for the pinstripe?

Placing the order this week. Forgive the modest Photoshop skills, but this is the direction I'm taking her.

That's correct. This is how BSM recommends doing it also. You can measure 1/4" off and make small marks to help guide you, but it's just not recommended to butt the stripes right up against the marking tape.

Thanks,

Tom
