Painting in stripes
Here is a pic of my car at the paint shop today. My stripes will be 10 inches wide each with a 2 inch gap. This most closely resembles the original "style" of stripes used by Shelby except for the tapering needed on early model cars to correct the optical distortion that made them appear to be too thin/thick in areas. Coincidentally I did pick up my car on Dec 02 of 2004 and was told that the technician had stepped off of the transport truck and dented in my car's roof and this had to be repaired at the dealership. Wow, I was given the option of refusing the car a being put back on a waiting list for an ordered car or take it "fixed" with a few free oil changes. In the sun the car looked fine, after removal of the wax and in shop lights the poor bodywork/scratches from coarse sandpaper were apparent. The errors are now being fixed but at my expense. :bang:
Front and rear bumpers are off, as are the grill, wing, and rear badge. This is necessary to get a proper distribution of paint and clear coat on the surfaces. If you look closely at the seams between the rear bumper and the car's body panels you will notice that it would be extremely difficult to sand and buff the paint/clear after spraying and this would create some thick/thin areas that would most likely peel or chip later.

Are your rocker panels painted, or vinyl? Looks great.
