Painting engine cover
Painting engine cover
I had purchased an intake and fuel rail covers from MWAG already painted in satin silver (my cars body color). I wanted to paint the ribs to make them stand out more and was curious as to what the proper way to do it would be.
Would I have to sand the clearcoat off of the surface of the portion I want to paint first? then clearcoat just that portion afterward? or will I need to add clearcoat to the entire cover?
thanks for any advice you can offer

At the least you would want to scuff the clear coat before painting to make sure it adheres properly. Clear coat part vs whole.. well you could do either, but if just doing part you want to be careful with how much you apply so you don't have a buildup line. Either way make sure to post completed pics
