Hi all. Well, I have a pretty simple question.

I am looking to get a Torch Red V6 with dark charcoal interior. I think it would look really cool with matching red brake calipers. Now, I know these brakes get very hot, but I was wondering if there was a way that they could be changed in color (either through a new one, or some form of painting).

So, comments and answers are greatly appreciated?

There are some really great epoxy-based paints you can buy that are brush-on. Decent kits are usually about 40 bucks. Dont bother with the spray stuff. Also, you can get more "acid brushes" (the little metal handled disposable ones) from Home Depot, or usually better quality versions of the same from hobby stores that sell RC aircraft stuff, before you start. With epoxy based products, they will smooth themselves out as they dry and you simply chuck the brushes, you cant clean them.

Just buy new brakes. There is already a company whos trademark color is red, whats there name? If you paint em red youll look like a poser.

Wow, sounds good. Now to find a color that might match Torch red!

Or would it be cool to have them black?

With the 16 inch chrome spinner wheels, is there even that much space to see the caliper?

PBR mabye?? Wait they do blue, green, yellow, red, silver, gold, matte and gloss black....

What about Brembos black, silver, and gold painted brakes???

If youve ever owned a set, you can see they use the same epoxy paint as any kit has.

ok you can go and buy those Brake paints if you like..but good old VHT heat paint works just fine and comes in quite a few colors. A $5 can should do them all. Just get the highest temp you can find.

They tend to fade pink though, and brake cleaner will ruin it over time. The epoxies hold up to even direct cleaning with spray brake cleaner repeatedly. I have some satin gold paint for my brakes on the Foci, the car is silver with all black interior and argent grey wheels. should look good.

My brother painted his yellow... lol.

They actually dont look too bad, because yellow doesnt fade to a diffrent color...

Red most likely will though... probably better to buy them.

Here's a hint: Use manifold paint for your brakes. At least that's what I did when I painted mine silver. Holds up really well. Maybe once a year/ every two years you have to touch them up.

I don't think its posing either. Who cares, its just a bit of paint.

Thanks very much for the link Kevin. I am not going to buy that one, but at least I know what I am looking for now.

Thanks again

And to who said painting the calipers would be poser, that is ridiculous. You must be a poser because you have a signature like almost everyone on this board does.

The G2 kit is one of the best out there. I have yet to see a complaint on it in ebay.

My buddy has a '99 V6 that is Rio Red (very close to torch red) and we painted his calipers with high temp engine block spray paint and they still look great. This was when the car was new too. No fading or anything.

I painted my Baer PBRs with red VHT paint and have had no problems. It's been over a year with 2 open track sessions and there is no fading and it's still glossy. Brake cleaner WILL eat right through the paint, but I think that can be a plus. You get to change the color whenever you want and to whatever mood strikes ya.
