Painted Cam Covers
Painted Cam Covers
I know the norm is to have your cam covers power coated but just can't justify the money when every single engine I've ever rebuilt I've painted and never had a problem that I myself didn't create. For 15 bucks it was worth the try. Using TacoBill's write up and closely following the instructions on the cans, 10 minutes between coats all coats done within 1 hour. So here are some before and after shots. What do you think ??
Of course well all know what they look like but here are the stockers anyway.

Nope the stock one is neoprene or rubber of some sort. I cleaned it up with some brake cleaner and reused it. I only have 8700 miles on my car it was still very pliable.
If I have no problems with them turning color or anything else in the next month or so... I'm going to use the money I saved for gears. Powercoat is way more durable and would probably last forever. For me, so far, this was the way to go.
Looks great Brian!
AWESOME JOB Brian!!! Love the color!! I question though? I see in the one pic of the passenger side cover, did you not reinstall the oil filler neck, as the oil cap looks to be on the cover itself? All in all, a GREAT JOB for very little money!!!
I took off the neck 'cause I wanted to see how I like this..
Thanks for the kind words !
