Painted Calipers on Yellow Stang Poll
Painted Calipers on Yellow Stang Poll
I will be pulling the trigger on a set of deep dish 18" chrome bullets /tires for my pony's feet. While changing the wheels out, I have considered painting my calipers and plan to use some aftermarket stickers on them as well. I am considering it three ways:
1) Yellow calipers with black "mustang" lettering / or logo.
2) Black calipers with yellow "mustang" lettering / or logo.
3) Traditional Red Calipers with white "mustang" lettering / or logo.
4) Leave the things natural / stock color. Put the wheels on and Drive it!
I am undeceided about color choice. Please respond to poll and what your opinion is. Also keep in mind I have the yellow / black scheme going on when posting your opinion. If you have painted your calipers, I would very much appreciate any pictures you could provide. Seeing something in a picture really helps grasp what my finished product will look like.
I plan to use the mustang decals from this site:

Thanks to all who participate.
Once I get the results, I will make a decision and post pics of the finished product.

I went with yellow to contrast the black FR500 wheels I hope to put on soon. I have no pics yet. I will get them soon. I have to put another few coats on before I take them. My expedition died on me so I had to drive it before I was done. Even when not finished and with the stock anthrecite bullits they look good yellow.
I wouldn't think they would get any more dirty than the rockers or the rear of the car. I have to wash on a weekly basis anyway. Even with the bullits the calipers are real easy to clean without taking the wheels off.
While I am not trying to influence anybody, my personal thought is that black would get dusty and visually dirty before the yellow and red given it is a darker color...
My pony gets washed at least twice a week normally, sometimes more than that so that dirt/dust accumulation is not a big concern...LOL

I painted mine Black and I have a White car. I have some sexier rotors and polished Bullitts. I feel the subdued caliper makes the rotor and the wheel POP more. If you want to draw attention to the caliper, then by all means paint it yellow, but it's a stock caliper and your putting money into wheels, so I say paint them black and show off the money parts.
Thanks for the great responses guys...
Funny, i posed the same poll on the YMR site and right now yellow with black lettering/pony is in the lead with the red and next runner up compared to black being favored here...
Keep those votes coming!

IMO the problem with painting them yellow is finding a yellow caliper paint that will match the car...... you don't want an obvious difference in color between the two yellows. Thats why I voted black with yellow decals- less chance of noticing the difference.
I admit I am starting to lean toward the black. It should be easy to find the hi temp paint as well as no mis match on the color.
I had to put a short delay on the wheels and tires purchase (father-in-law passed) and had to transfer some funds around for a week or two.
Please lets keep the poll going and I appreciate all your valued insights...

I got them painted last week along with the new tires and wheels. I thought long and hard and considered a number of factors presented.
I suppose the psyche of a screaming yellow driver is different than the normal mustang driver. Those of us who drive yellows are looking to attract attention to ourselves (I guess) so my thought was to go with the color that would create more focus.
Here are the results. I did not add lettering/pony since xenonmods.com had to pull their stang letter set from their store. (Yeah, I know they have a custom order deal but the owner would not answer my email so I have not ordered any yet)
