Paint the side mirrors
I think that painting the mirrors only adds 'bulk' above the bodyline and cuts into the perceived shape of the windows. :notnice:
Perhaps if the area parallel to the window were left unpainted?

Check out the White GT with Blue GT striping on the Ford Racing Catalog.
I used this picture as the guide for my custom painted striping.
I chose not to paint the mirrors on my vert because when the top is down I didn't want anything above the low profile of the car except the windshild.
The vert has a great wedge look and the black mirror maintains that. Take a look.

It makes the car look like it's got ears! (wish I had paint-shop skills)
Seriously though, I asked a body shop about it and they said no problem to paint, but they were concerned about how it would stand up over time. I decided to keep her stock in that respect.

Wife liked the Steeda mirror, so I painted the upper insert for her.

I did not sand the factory texture, it is still there.
Costs
A very good rattle can from Auto Paint Supply store $22.
An Adhesive Promoter (clear primer) $5.29
Tapes and platsic drop cloths. $7
Four hours of my time on a sunny day. Priceless!

I have to thank those who responded, your comments are all valid. I have decided to leave the mirrors alone. I feel they blend in better with the window being tinted pretty dark. I think if they are painted, they will stand out too much.
I will post pictures when the upgrades are done.

I voted no. When I think of painted mirrors, I think of European cars. I'm keeping mine black. I'm not going to go painting the grill, window trim, antenna, or even the tires the body color either. Black accents on a car look good IMO.

UPDATE...I decided at the last minute to get the mirrors done. Talk about easy to remove. I was worried the plug for the mirrors were behind the door panel and I would have to remove them, but the plug is right on the back of the mirrors. All you have to do it pull the little triangular plastic cover straight off and the pulg and 3 nuts are right there. It took all of about 5 minutes to do both. I will have them along with the side louvers done this week, pics to follow.
So what would be your opinions then on Covers? I guess the benefit would be that they can be removed if you don't like the look? The Xenon Mustang has em. I've been considering this also as the next mod but am unsure about covers. I guess you'd be looking at cost of the parts then the paint...
