I have a mineral grey GT. I have just purchased the Street Scene side window louvers and the engine plenum cover. Both are being painted the colour of the car. I am thinking of removing the side mirrors and getting them painted too, but the window moulding going up the side is black and I am wondering if it is going to look weird. The front windows are tinted (20%). It is up to you people to decide for me, you have until Monday night to convince me.

I'd say paint it like the Steeda (pic below), but don't know if the color difference is great enough to be really noticeable. Also, if done like the Steeda you wouldn't have to worry about the window molding looking out of place as most of the mirror would still be black. But if you paint the whole thing, I still don't think the black molding makes it look weird in the least.
I believe that the '06 model is to have painted mirrors with the stem portion of the mirror still black against the molding. There was a thread on TMS about a promo shot in a magazine showing it, but I forget which one. Sorry all!

I agree, those are heinous
. I have seen an insert somewhere that goes into/fills the indention on the stock mirror housing . . . that's what I'm looking for.
I say no. I thought about doing that, but here's why I decided not to.
From the side, there's a nice bodyline that runs from the front of the hood, flat, all the way to the back of the trunk, giving the car a nice long appearance. Painting the mirrors brings your eye up, away from that line, detracting from the car's appearance. Besides, they're huge (I like them) and I didn't want them to stand out even more. My .02
