New Spoiler Installed
New Spoiler Installed
Just got my GT500 spoiler installed and it wasnt that hard after all. Just a couple of bolts, some wd-40, and a little elbow grease and I was finished in about 30 minutes. I must say its not a bad piece for $125.00 shipped to my door already painted. I was a little worried that the red paint would not match since the car is an 05 but it was exact.
Looks great Sam!
I've been thinking about getting one too, but heard it's a PITA to (vinyl) stripe.

Where did you get the lift kit?
Just messin', but it does look higher than usual.

....Rob at BSM told me that this spoiler is a pain to stripe, and that's coming from a professional!
I bought a striping kit from him for my wife's V6 and this is stated in the instructions. There's a comment about some guys' doing the spoiler with four total pieces, which creates a seam while others have tried this with one continuous piece (2 pieces total). FYI, he factory striping has a seam (four total pieces are used for the spoiler alone). I have not installed yet, BUT.....
Before Rob had pre-cut stripes for this spoiler, I purchased a generic 12-inch wide roll from him. Because the GT500s striping varies in width -- narrowest at the front and rear bumpers and widest on the roof, I had to cut every piece to duplicate this. I ended up having to use seams on the rear spoiler (four total pieces) and did NOT have any problems, BUT....
I have a good deal of experience installing striping.....
....Do you think the twin racing stripes would be easier/harder than the superstripe?
Depends. The superstripe is extremely wide. Because the contour of the spoiler at the top is curved, I believe this stripe MUST be seamed. If you try using one piece and start at the top, it will not lay flat once you go over the top and onto the back. There's no way IMHO.

Just two holes and 3M tape all the way around. I dont think you'll have to worry about it coming off its rock solid. It covers the other hole but I plugged mine off and siliconed it on both sides for good measure.
I have my GT500 spoiler sitting in my garage waiting to be installed... I've heard that striping can be a pain and that it might be substantially easier to install stripes before the spoiler is attached. Should I wait to get it mounted?

And you Bill can do anything!!!!
