IMHO, I would stripe it before you attach it. It took me about 3 hours to stripe mine, and that was sitting at the kitchen table, where you can actually maneuver the spoiler around. Just my opinion....

The instructions say to drill two additional holes toward the edge, did you skip drilling these holes? Sounds like you did and just used the two factory holes and the 3m tape?

Thanks

Yea, I skipped drilling the 2 other holes. The 2 holes and 3M tape are plenty to hold it in place. I didnt wont to take the chance of screwing my trunk lid up.

That's good to know. I don't like drilling holes in a new car. A bolt on install is the best!

Thanks for sharing this info. I'm starting to get tired of my factory spolier already. At least since I installed my billet grill. This might be a good replacement for it if they ever started painting in Dark Candy Apple Red.

Here's a couple of pics. What do you guys think? Would the GT500 spoiler look better, or the OEM one?

Never the OEM one. A pedestal spoiler is not the right look for S197's, unless you add a ducktail and go for a Mach 1 look. I haven't had one bad comment on mine yet.

Yeah, it looks real good. How's the quality of the spolier itself? Pretty good?

Great quality, the paint is perfect. Feels about the same weight as the factory spoiler, no flex or ruff spots. I really cant find anything I dont like about it. I would buy from them again if I needed to.

OK, thanks for the info!

That might be my next mod. Who knows?

I've spent too much money on my new Pony already though. I might have to wait a while.........

Hey guys...I just bought and received my new GT500 spoiler. I removed the original one and I'm getting ready to install the new one. I'm very interested in the guys who elected to skip drilling the additional two mounting holes. Have any of you experienced any problems? Does the spoiler stay put...even at high speeds? I don't want to drill those holes either...so if most of you have had no problems...I will do the same.

Question Black cover for rear ???

I bought a striping kit from him for my wife's V6 and this is stated in the instructions. There's a comment about some guys' doing the spoiler with four total pieces, which creates a seam while others have tried this with one continuous piece (2 pieces total). FYI, he factory striping has a seam (four total pieces are used for the spoiler alone). I have not installed yet, BUT.....

Before Rob had pre-cut stripes for this spoiler, I purchased a generic 12-inch wide roll from him. Because the GT500s striping varies in width -- narrowest at the front and rear bumpers and widest on the roof, I had to cut every piece to duplicate this. I ended up having to use seams on the rear spoiler (four total pieces) and did NOT have any problems, BUT....

I have a good deal of experience installing striping.....

....Do you think the twin racing stripes would be easier/harder than the superstripe?

Depends. The superstripe is extremely wide. Because the contour of the spoiler at the top is curved, I believe this stripe MUST be seamed. If you try using one piece and start at the top, it will not lay flat once you go over the top and onto the back. There's no way IMHO.
Where did you get that???

When you order from them, when do you choos the color that you want

It will stay put, I've had it 100+ , washed the car several times since the install, and still solid as a rock.

They give you an email address to send them the color. I also included the color choice in the comment section when I paid.

Thanks! I guess I'll skip drilling new holes then.

NEXT - a chin spoiler...then silver stripes.

mine's still sitting in the garage... very happy with the paint quality.I will be installing this weekend and will post pics later. Based on everyone's feedback I do not plan to drill. I'll just use the two existing holes and 3M adhesive. I trust you all !!

Installed the spoiler last night. Everything went well, but the outside corners did not stick well. The tape wasn't holding. I had to clamp the corners down. I'll take the clamps off tonight and HOPE that the tape is holding well. I did everything the way I should have. Everything was clean, dry and warm. Did anyone else have this problem?

Mine did the same thing....the corners won't stay down.....
....hence the reason I think they added the extra holes....
they didn't offer them that way originally.......
I haven't fixed mine yet....I may switch to a different spoiler...

I was very close to ordering one of those as well. After reading quite a few posts on the issue of the ends coming up I had decided to get the FRPP version of the Shelby spoiler (nice solid piece). Yes it is more expensive, all told I spent $400. which includes the painting at a dealership. Fits all 4 factory holes, no extra drilling, no issues, no worries, installed and done!
