New Quarter windows scoop
Mike, that was hilarious. If I lived in California, you might have seen me doing just that.
Dennis, I agree with you about having real louvers like the old ones... and scoops for that matter... that actually let air in. But I doubt that would happen in this day and age. However, I do not agree with you about your statement about ricers. You cannot compare a 3' carbon fiber wing or a 6" diameter fart can tail pipe to a modern version of a timeless classic. Side louvers and scoops were on the original Shelby Mustangs, and I don't see the fiberglass stick-on versions of today as "rice". But to each his own.
Kristina, in that pic the scoop looks huge. I guess it depends on the picture and the angle. I have to admit though, it looks good in that pic.

There are a few problems with making them functional. Water and air leaks for two. Security for another. Those can be overcome for the most part but again its not a cheap answer. One of the many things a manufacturer has to look at is cost vs... sell the ability to re-coop the cost spent on tooling. Can you tool something like this up- sure with enough time and money. Can you make it work- sure. Can you sell enough of them at a very high price to re-coup your money- doubtful. The higher you make something, the less people are going to buy it. One other thing you have to look at is time. Can you develop three other parts in the time it takes to do this one thing- I think so- I think someone will develop these. I dont think it will be us.

I admire the companies trying to bring these classic elements to the 05, I just wish the landscape of today's business would recognize not everything has to be quick and cheap. I think there is a place for both.
For me, I'd love to buy a beat up stang and bring her back to life - I just don't have the money or probably the time. So I'd pay extra to get some of that working classic in my new 05. I kinda feel the same about the ducktails. Some of them are not thought out to well (covering the brake light) although they look good. I know it's gonna cost me a few grand, but I think I want one molded right into the body.
