I got mine on this past weekend, I already had the SHR panel on and they look pretty good together. But I've also got the one you have, I replaced it years ago with the SHR panel, and I had the same idea as you about painting the back side black. I think being shiny it matches the lights better, to bad they didn't make a center panel to match the one on the 13's, after seeing yours I may have to pull the SHR panel off and put the other one on

@ anyone who has these in their hands and has not yet installed them. Can you post some pictures of the wiring harness on them and also where the control module is located? I currently have Web-Electric sequentials on my '07 and I did the recommended mod to make them not sequence when you step on the brakes. I have seen these Gen5s in video and it is obvious that the control module is triggered by the brake light voltage. I'm trying to see if the trigger input is spliced into the brake wire before or after going into the control module. The mod I speak of requires tapping into the hot wires going to the front left and right turn signals and using those voltages as the trigger for the left and right rear modules respectively. No turn signal, no trigger, but the brake light voltage goes through the module and all lamps light as one.

I was hoping that it just had this appearance in photos, but looked more solid in person. Can anyone comment on this? It's the only thing making me hesitant to purchase.

Finally got the car out today.
First thing to do.... install the lights
Blackout panel was just sitting on the decklid. It'll get installed in the next couple days. It was already pretty dark at that point and I'm not sure if I need to Plastidip the backside.
I'll see what it looks like in the daylight and if it needs a spray to be darker.

I got one of the first sets, back in Oct. So I'm not sure if they improved any of the issues.
Grommet is a bit too loose for my liking. It snaps in, but its not as much of a tight fit as the stock ones. I put a silicone bead on the inside just in case, as well as on the mounting nuts to stop any moisture from getting in.
Left side light was a pain to get in. Had to give it some...encouragement to go in properly.
Right side lined up without any issue.
They do look amazing.
I see what people are talking about with the 'connect the dots' in the ring. Its not as smooth and uniform as the stock 13-14, but its nowhere near as bad as people put it out to be.

I was really gung ho for these lights until I observed that whatever sequencing logic they used was inferior to the factory lights which for some reason appears to be typical for what comes out of China. Lets see if AM has any control over the products they sell and can get that fixed as well as some of the fitment problems.
Not trying to be a party pooper but for $400 you would think that they would be exact copies of the factory product and they would fit properly.
