Need Help With Tire Selection
Hey Everyone,
I am new here and I am looking for some advice on tire selection. I just purchased some new wheels, CS40 Chrome 20X9 for the front and 20X10 for the rear for my 06 GT Convertible.
http://www.cruizinconceptswholesale....S40CHROME20X10
I have attached some pictures for everyone to take a look of my car now with the current wheels which are chrome 2000 Cobra R's 18X9.5 all the way around. (I took these off of my 99 Cobra that I recently sold). It is also lowered with the Eibach Pro Kit springs, shocks and struts.
In an effort to try and pick the right tires for these new wheels I have looked all over the net at tons of pictures and
forums and have narrowed it down to 2 choices. (I think depending on the answers I get)
My first choice are the Nitto NT555 255/35for the front and NT555R 305/35 for the rear. Now I dont currently need this setup because of my horse power but am working on getting a supercharger setup around march so I will need it. Besides that I just like the way it fills up the wheel well and looks from the rear.
My second choice is the Nitto Invos 255/35 front and 295/35 rear. I guess these are my fall back setup if everyone tells me the first setup will not work.
After all that my question is this will the 555R's fit on my setup without scrubbing. Using some online tire calculators (dont know how accurate they are) they tell me that the diameter of the 305/35/20 is 28.41 in. Comparing that to the setup I have now which is 275/35/18 which the diameter is 25.58. That doesn't leave much room the last thing I want to do is spend the cash for these tires get them mounted and find out they wont fit. When I take measurements it is 27 7/8 in from the ground to the bottom of the wheel well. If youcompare that to the diameter of the 555r tire it won't fit.
However if you look at the diameter of the invo which is 28.13 that won't fit either,
but I have seen alot of guys running those tires so I am a bit confused. Maybe I am over thinking this I tend to do that. Any and all help and advice is appreciated.

Welcome to the TMS
The tire diameter on the wheels that you are using right now are about 25.6” vs stock which are 27.1” tall and this is why your wheels look a bit small, not bad by the way they just needs to be 40mm.
Keep in mind that when you’re changing your tire’s sizing it also affect your gear ratio and your speedometer’s read out.
In order for you to keep these two things inline the new tire must be as close as possible to stock height.
A 255 or 265/35/20 for the front will work as for the back 295/30 or 305/30/20 would be the most ideal size and would fill out the wheel wells much better than what you have now.

Charles,
First of all, that is an excellent wheel choice, I came really close to getting that set when wheel shopping. I ended up buying a set of foose wheels from these guys and have the 295/30 in the back. The tires sit flush with the fender (may stick out just a hair). One thing to keep in mind is the set I bought (foose legend ss) has offset that is 38mm, yours is 45mm (lower the number, more your outer edge will go towards the outside). However, with the difference of 10 mm between the tires, the 305/35 (even though diamater is same with 295/35) may stick out a bit....
