Long Term Raxiom Gen5 or Vector Discussion

Just curious as to how these two taillight options have held up over the years. Any lamination problems, circuit problems, or LED failures?

Actually I had done what you recommended ages ago. Searches only pull up about 12 or so threads. Most had died in 2014 to 2016 and I have participated in most of the Raxiom taillight threads. Since I hadn't found what I was looking for, as a last resort I started this thread. I am not one to just start throwing out questions without researching first as I have adhered to the scientific method most of my adult life. Oh and my first Mustang was a '65 GT Coupe in Midnight Blue with white interior and white vinyl top, Borg Warner T-10 and two well oiled Cherry Bombs that I purchased used in the Spiing of 1969 just after returning from Vietnam.

Centurion, I've had four types of Raxiom taillights for my 06 - Coyote, Gen5, Vector V1 & V2. The lenses and trim are not laminated so there's no problem there. I've had to return and replace the V2s because of circuit problems but I'm given to understand that it is a rare occasion. I know you didn't ask for opinions but I'm currently running the V1s just as a personal preference. The V2s were smoked and the length of the light bars seemed to dominate my car's rear. And I never appreciated the flat panel design of the stock or Coyote taillights (the Coyote's had two reverse light panels on each side but only one lit up which I thought was kind of cheesy).. The Gen5s also had the flat panel feel and I wasn't too fond of the individual LED surround. So, to me, the V1s kept the original 05-09 flavor while incorporating the light bars which I think is pretty cool. Just my .02.

I have both taillights. Have had the Gen5 on my car since the begining. The coating wore off after so many years so I had to refinish it myself and now looks like new.
I bought the Vectors but have not taken them out of the box yet. I am selling them because I do not want them.

Which Vectors do you have, V-1 or V-2?

I'm considering the V2s but waiting to see if they come out with red leds, I'm not very fond of smoked colored ones

Rocky, I think you'll be waiting a long time for anything other than Smoked V2s. The reason is that the inner bar "lights up" white for reverse, which indicates to me that Raxiom is using a switchback or RGB LED. In order to show a white light the lenses have to be clear. So, it seems that other than clear smoked lenses, any other color lenses would not work. While the appearance design of the V2s is nice, I think this is a "Plan B" design by Raxiom (for the 05-14 Mustang) once they lost the right to manufacture/sell V1s without paying a royalty to Spyder. Even Ford had to redesign placement of the reverse light on 2015+ Mustangs in order to have red lenses. As always, just my thoughts, I could be wrong.

I totally agree John. Therefore, I'll just stick with my "OEM" tail lights which are good enough since converting over to the sequential tail light harness from CDC
