What are the dimensions on the back of the mustang? I think this is something the TMS store should stock. I'd definitely buy one.

I hope your idea works, and that you're happy with it. Just to clarify though, the vinyl is not put on with double sided tape. It's sticky on one side only. You install it with soapy water and slide it around until you get it into the proper position. Once in position, squeege the water out from behind it. I had never installed vinyl before doing mine and everyone thinks its paint.

What I meant was the polypropelene blackout kit by 3-d carbon. Its over 1/4 inch thick and installed with double stick tape plus you have to paint it. It cost $150.00 plus paint. And if you scratch it your out $200+. The vinyl that your talking about (like window tint) Is very thin and you need somewhat of talent to install (bubbles). At least the magnet which is vinyl coated is almost 1/8 thick and you can remove it when you wash the car. My Master template is complete and my shipment of magnets is coming anyday now. I also have plans, and I mean just plans for all different colors and design features to put on these magnets. But black first. I should have pictures by the end of next week.

Scott,

How much does it cost for the magnet you ordered? I'd like to get a few myself.

Hmm, $40? That's 10 shy of the one here

Do you think if we got a group of TMSers to order in bulk, we'd save money? If they look good, I'd be willing to buy 3 or 4. I think if we ordered 20+ we could cut down on the individual costs. But before we do that, I gotta see what it looks like.

Here are a few pics of the 3D Carbon blackout. In my opinion it is the only way to go . Had mine painted glossy black. The fit is perfect and the peice itself is very solid. I like the way it makes the gas badge flush with the rest of the car. Before the badge was like an annoying hangnail, now shes healed

Bain, I like it, but I dont' like that you have to paint it.

No. I was just saying that it's made of a poly that you have to paint.

Arrgh, you have to paint that one too? ugh. I dont' get why these panels don't come pre painted. What other color are people going to want? I hate these after market schemes to charge extra money unecessarily.

No. The magnet will stick to the rear. It DOES NOT have to be painted. It comes in a black vinyl. So if you ruin it in time you just get another one because it's affordable, where as the poly one cost 150+ and has to be painted.

the only thing about magnets is, according to a friend of mine, that the magnets, over time, and with the heat of the sun adhere too much to the paint, it magentizes it, and when you pull it off, it comes with some paint on it, if someone has more info about it, please post, because I don't know this for sure.

Well you would have to speak to a body guy for that. But I would guess if in "TIME" you leave the double stick tape on the paint and/or have the vinyl adhere to the paint it would have the same effect. At least with the magnet you can pull it off everytime you clean and wax the car. I have had my business magnets on my white trucks for years and have never had a problem.

In response to magnets possibly magnetizing the paint: no, Nationwide has been using magnets on our cars for some time, no paint peeling off, we need to resell the cars to recapture our losses. The vehicle I have is white and has a symbol on he door. Granted, I do take the thing off on the weekends, but there are many in the company that do not. Never heard of paint coming off with the magnet. I still am not sure about a glossy finish on the magnet though. The idea was to have a flat finish......

The magnet is a Matt Black Finish. IMO and not because I am making them, it looks awesome. The problem I am having is I really just need to get my car (Oct.1) so as to perfect the template. I have one already made and will probably have pics tomorrow. But I have to get to a dealer and test it. This template might be perfect but I really need the car myself so I can constantly check it and make the smallest of adjustments because the 3-D one I bought is not perfect. All the measurements are different and the fake gas cap hole is too big. The finish on the magnet is a clean matt black. And a liitle more time and $$ and it will be perfected. Should have pics tomorrow on the very first one made. P.S. And it will not peel paint!!!
