Just got threw adding Redline Tuning 2005 Ford Mustang Hood QuickLIFT.

http://www.redlinetuning.com/QL-FORD-MUS-05.html

Took about 2 hours for me. Just had to take my time setting up and drilling.

One thing if you get this when you use the pop rivet gun. When it pops it can scratch

I got one small scratch I have to touch-up. Least it did not hurt the primer.

But other than that, it work beautifully.

Just curious, do you have to use rivets or can sheet metal work?

Looks good.

You mean like sheet metal screws? If so I don't believe they would,
you have very limited amount of space on the hood. It might work
for the bottom plates.

It does look really good , does it lock in place say as the stick would hold it once the hood is fully open ? I'd hate to see it come down ! Also now if it were electric or even hydrolic that would be Sweet ! I like your mod. Ed

No, it does not have a lock on it. But they are very well built. And hold up easy.
Here is a little video I took of it. Looks close to the one on there site. Though I had to start the hood up myself it opened it self up easy enough.

Hoodlift Video.

May want to right click - download.

Nah...does not matter to me. I think it looks nice. Reminds me of the the trunk lifts. Matches-up. They work about the same. So if you look at how your trunk works. The hood lifts act the same.

Just did mine this weekend too. Took me and my girlfriend about 2 hours. The first drilled hole is the hardest ( mentally), the rivets went in great. Looks Perfect, and 100% better then the old prop bar. No pics today, but will post later. Ford should have had this on all the cars. One of the best mods for the mustang in my opinion. ( besides the sequentials).

Redline Tuning was GREAT to work with, fast shipping and great product, easy instructions. HIGHLY reccommend!

Lance; Great vid
This was an easy install. Hardest part was finding a number drill bit.
Read the instructions 3 or 4 times ... then again
Worked up the nerve to make the first hole ... simple after that
Definately worth the effort.
Like several others have posted ... should have been stock on a $20-25K auto

I agree, the first time I opened the hood, I couldn't believe it had a prop rod. And never could find a #11 drill bit, whatever that is, but a 3/16 left if a few seconds to rem the hole out worked great. My advice, take your time, and get them on straight. I've seen some installed where one shock is straight, and the other kicked over several degrees. Just take your time, look at how the hinges line up before drilling the wholes, and all is well.

Also, don't forget to get out all the metal flakes out of the engine bay. Metal in a fan belt will ruin it by getting caught in the grooves and will cause a screeching noise that will drive you mad! Easy fix though, a new belt. I just used my home vac with long attatchment to vacuum out the engine bay after I was done.

I also threw an old towel over the fender to help protect them while drilling, riveting, etc. First time I had EVER used a riveter, had to go buy one for 20 bucks, but they are EASY to use. If you can use a pair of pliers, you can pop a rivet in.

This is a great mod, highly recommended!

Rivet gun? Drill? On my new Mustang? Well, I did all of the above and I tell you, the directions were great and the items are quality.. Never used a rivet gun in my life. Redline is tops in my book. Just make sure when drilling you limit depth. Listen to Hatchman and you'll be so pleased with this mod you'll spend the rest of the night going out and lifting the hood, lifting the hood, lifting the hood.........

I installed mine a week ago. Excellent product! No sweat on the install. Well, maybe a little as I drilled up into the hood.

I also completed this install last week. Excellent product with excellent instructions. I also couldn't locate a #11 bit so used the 3/16 bit and reemed the hole every so slightly. This is a must do mod for your Stang. Way to to Redline Tuning...
