So how about my original idea of moving up to 285s, still pushing it?

I'm running 275/40 8.5" up front and 295/40 10" rear. both 18 " rims. Just gotta get off my lazy butt and put the car up so I can paint the calipers 1st. Kill 2 birds w/ one stone. getting all 4 wheels off the ground is a pain in the azz w/ a lowered car

the place I got them from said they do it all the time. The ride is firm with these tires and springs. I don't get to nutz to often either. Been up to 120 a few times with them no problems yet. I like them altho I will go for a little more side wall in the rear next time. Your tire doesn't hang over the rim at all. look out for those curbs. I'll post a pic of mine later for comparison.

Hey, what would you all recommend for a set of Steeda 18X9.5 Ultra-Lites? I, too, live on the Wet Coast, so need something that'll hold in the rain...

I have Nitto 275/40/18's on 18x9's in the front and 305/40/18's on 18x10's in the rear. Both have a nice sidewall height and a nice sidewall curve over the wheels. I've put them to the test and they work well.

They look sweet Glenn! Would there be anything different when trying to go that wide on an 18 instead of a 20??

I don't think so as long as its 9 inch wide it should look the same.

Glenn those rear tires look SICK... I much prefer a little sidewall bulge to the stretched look, it seems so much more aggressive. Now you guys have me thinking about putting 275's on my stock 8.5" 18's, even though everyone else says not to do it...

Oh, and to the OP, looks real good, very nice stance on the rear view! But like others said, lower it, even if it's just a little bit. Go with the Steeda Ultra-Lites if you want a mild drop, they make the car look like it should have from the factory.

I agree with this statement. This is why I went with 275/40/18's up front instead of 255/45/18's on a 9" wide rim. Also went with the 305/40 instead of 295/40 on the rear on a 10" rim for the same reason. BTW, I have Magnum 500 rims. Again I'll get picks up in a few days.

I love the look of the tall fat tires on the back of our cars. I'm also running a 295/45-18 on 10" wheel. I lowered mine with Stang Suspension Series II kit which lowers the front 1.75" and the rear 1.5" to keep the rake look while eliminating the 4X4 look. It handles really nice for only changing springs/tires/wheels. I plan on trying different tires when these wear out. Want to go from the 28.3" tall rear tire to a 29.2" tall tire

Here is a pic of me at the track a few weeks back and shows the "rake" my car has.

If I'm not mistaken, the 305/40-18 is the 555R drag radial.

These 295/40 seem like they have more sidewall than the 275 /40(now on the front) did. Definitely gave my car a little more raked look . I'm running ultralites
