It's like putting tissue in a bra....It might look nice but when you get down to it, it's just not the same thing as functional....

For me I would like it functional but if it looked good I would go for nonfunctional as well.

Sure it would be great if it's functional... but it doesn't have to be! If you find one that you think will look good on your car, get it whether it's functional or not! After all, most of us have some sort of rear spoiler on our cars, either factory or aftermarket, which really aren't functional unless you are driving at speeds in excess of 100mph (IMO)...
hey,

are your stripes painted or vinyl? I'm wondering because I have vinyl stripes and I'm wondering how that would work with a tack-on scoop. Would I place it right on top of the stripes?

I like the look of your scoop. I was wondering if it would look funny without striping the scoop as well, but now that I see yours, it looks good!

I would PREFER functional, but if I like the looks of it, I'll get it.

Functional, totally.

Falsies are for preening teenage girls and ricers, no cheesy codpieces for me as that just undermines the Stang's design honesty and integrity by pretending to be something it is not.

It never ceases to amaze me how those who will eviscerate a ricer’s parade float of fake scoops, wings, ducts and whatnot will turn right around and crow how “badazz” an equally specious hood scoop / airbrake looks on a Stang. Hmmm, Webster’s define hypocrisy as …

I also find such fake baubles more than a bit insulting, insinuating either that I, or my friends and neighbors, are either so gullible or so shallow as not to know the difference between a functional performance reality and a pretentious performance pose.

As I would never stick a sock down the front of my britches to impress, neither would I ever continence a fake hood scoop on the front of my ride to do so either.

Actually, I think any '60's shaker hood scoop simply does not make much sense on a modern FI Stang, requiring awkward, contorted and tortured ducting to function at all and really being an example of form foiling function. Much more sensible would be some sort of leading edge or perhaps cowl ducting that would work much better with the FI ducting and manifold designs. The ’05 Concept was an excellent example of this.

It's bad enough to have a non-functional gas-cap in the back - I wouldn't want a non-functional hood-scoop on the front end even if it does balance the car out..

I find it funny how soooooo many people are against "fake" scoops and claim they are rice. Guess you should explain that to the guy I know that owns a 68 shelby. Side scoops are not functional on his car either.

Seriously. I think non-functional hood scoops are awesome, and functional ones are just taking it a step further to also add performance. Don't bag on the people who do it just for looks. Every single mod on my car is for aesthetics, but I don't see why I should feel bad about that.

I'm actually thinking of getting a scoop for my GT...but don't know which route to go.

That is one beautiful aluminum hood. There should be a law against defacing it.
