Hood Struts

Hood Struts
Has anyone seen or heard of a problem with the CDC or any other hood struts not holding up a fiberglass hood. I just got a Trufiber Venom hood to install on my 2005. A couple of buds of mine are now complaining about some struts NOT holding up their fiberglass hoods well enough. I know mine should be heavier then their's too.
What aftermarket fiberglass hood and who's struts is everyone using?

You should not use struts with fiberglass hoods. The extra strain put on the structure when you go to shut it tends to crack the fiberglass. That is why the hood manufacturers recommend NOT using hood struts on fiberglass hoods. If you went with an even stronger strut, the effort to close the hood would put even more strain on the structure.

There is a message on CDC's website about the bulge. Maybe that is why the website says that their not taking any orders at this time.

redline tuning (I think) used to offer a set that mounted way far forward- actually probably get in the way a little, but due to being so far forward they should use much lower gas pressure, as leverage works to their advantage...if anyone knows the ones I'm talking about or where to find them, please speak up I just ordered a Fang(aeroform.com) hood/shaker, with the hardware to mount the scoop to the hood instead of the engine(wont shake, but functional and leaves room for a blower) would like to find one of those older style sets...the other thing I liked about them is they push backwards on the hinges, rather than pushing forwards- I think that might help minimize the bulge also...
