I think I'd try getting some 'matt' glass, trim/roll it in the gap where you want it then brush on the resin- that stuff is pretty stiff even when wet, so it will stay put better than the woven cloth when you start brushing on it.
Am I gonna see ya at dragway 42 again this year? We added another head to our family count this year too- another little guy, 2 weeks old now- I need to get one of those power wheels mustangs like you did- too bad they dont come in blue

question- the guy you got these from- does he have a yellow Roush? Wes asked me last year about going together and buying these two- but I was still too torn between a shaker or a cougar eliminator...I did pick up a OEM eliminator scoop, but its just too big for the 06...I'd love to make a one-off 75% sized model of that scoop(and leave room for a KB blower some day)
At this point, if it involves adding fiberglass, etc, then I may just leave it to a pro to finish.

Dragway 42? Absolutely. I'm looking forward to going out again.

The guy I bought the hoods from was named Mike from The Dream Car Factory. I'm not sure what he drove, but a shorter guy just a little taller than me, with long, black, kinda wild, rock star like hair.

I've got all the sanding and cutting done. I'm going to take a few minutes later today w/ some super fine sand paper to go over all the edges one last time.

Done sanding.

I like the look better w/ just the back 9 louvers cut out.

Now I need to figure out this inside gap. Looks like I'll be making some phone calls tomorrow.

lookin pretty good-
have you thought about maybe putting some stainless mesh or expanded metal on the underside? I think that might look kinda neat too...
I wish SHR or someone would come out with some nice extractors for the stock hood, complete wit water baffles, etc... I'm sure letting heat out=adding hp, especially off the line as things get pretty hot when the cars not moving

That's a good idea! (extractors for the stock hood)

I was thinking about some black honeycomb, etc for the louvers. One step at a time.

i noticed that the opening in the hood for the shaker lets out quite a bit of heat....

when i stop at lights and stuff i can see the heat coming out of the cracks around the shaker....

just imagine how much heat would come out of some bigger vents!!

And that heat soak time after you shut the engine down. Open the hood a few minutes later and it is like furnace under there. I would think that the heat extractors would really help to cool the engine down.

Or you could mount some red LEDs under the hood and let the glow come up through the louvers...

I saw that done once at a car show and it actually did not look bad. The lights were not directly in the louvers, they were offset so you could not see them, but the glow came through.

Found what I need to get the job done.

http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT

Should be here in a couple of days.

Cave and pave, a little sanding, and off to primer.

Weekend project!

Anyway let me know how this product works, I have a repair to do on my chin spoiler, it has minor crack from hitting some road debris.

John,
I'd suggest some fibreglass cloth & resin for any gap filling, filling the weave, finish work. I'd sand the area surrounding first to give it something to bite into. After that, we've used a product called Icing for any fine finish work. It's a glazing putty & can be fine sanded to a feather edge with no visable edges. After that, prime & paint.
That hood will look great when you get it finished & painted

You ever get that mid-muffler setup installed yet?

Darn your model is nice on the eyes,I've drolled over those pics for some time now!

Thanks for the info.

MM - nope, not yet. You know how freakin' cold it's been, and my blood's still thin from living in Florida. So, it won't be installed until my wussy butt can handle the temps laying on the garage floor.

Once it gets warmed up I'm going to have a serious mod day:

Pypes MM setup
MGW Shifter
Grabberpony.com Crimson Red Shift ****
DCF Hood
WebElectric Sequentials
Wheels/Tires
Lowering Springs

... if I have any time leftover I'm hoping to be able to put a coat of Zaino on her to get her ready for some before and after pics.

That should be a pretty good weekend transformation.

Didn't know you were a relocated from FLA as well.
We lived in Orlando 15yrs. We've been back up north 11yrs now & my blood's never thickened up again either.
Come on spring

Well, I got sidetracked in finishing my hood today. I did get it started, hopefully I'll finish tomorrow.

Here's what I got sidetracked with.

Yeah, I like it. It's like the KR hood, but made to work w/ a regular GT front end. No way I was doing a whole front end conversion.

Well, here's the progress to date.

Just got done with all the fiberglass work and sanding. Now I start taping the top side, so I can refinish the underside. I'm just doing the area around the louvers, and I'm using a textured paint, so I didn't worry too much about the imperfections in my sanding and glass work... I'm a virgin on this stuff... take it easy on me.

Thoughts?

I figure if I screw anything up, a bodyshop should be able to fix it.

The cost of my personal labor is a lot cheaper than the hundreds I would spend if I had to pay a shop to do all of this.

So far so good!
