Help me find some new Wheels/Rims....

Hi there

OK I am really struggling to find some wheels for my car and upto now wheels that met criteria turn out to be no longer made, as such were the WedsSport TC-005 and Axis Reverbs.

So this is what I am looking for:-

Wheel Specs
18x9" for the front with 18x9.5" or 18x10" rear
OR
18x9.5" all round
OR
18x10" all round

Meet this criteria
Fit with Shelby GT500 Brakes
Be lightweight as in sub 24lbs per wheel
Cost sub $400 per wheel

Now I love the style/design of the Steeda Black Pentars but those are 28lbs each which makes then no use.

Can anyone help please and as I am in UK please if you have any suggestions let me know where I can order them from.

Thanks in advance....

Check out Asa Ar1 on tirerack. 23lbs, $172. Only 18x9 but I'm running them with 275/40R18 all around. Not sure about Gt500 brakes.

what about Steedas ($229)?
Not sure on the weight, but they say "lightweight" for whatever that is worth. :-)

My overall suggestion about the brake clearance issue is to call up TireRack directly. I know looking on the GT500 listing that wheel I put above wasn't included, only on the standard GT model, so maybe it is the brakes that make a difference. I think the reps at TireRack should have more info, though, overall to help answer the question. They do list the Gram Lights 57 for about $350 as fitting GT500, though, just not as good looking a wheel.

Yeah GT000 rims can fit on a reg GT not the other way around. GT500 brakes need special rims to clear its brake system. If you have any idea of possibly upgradeing your brakes do yourself a favor and get ones which clear big brakes from the get go.

Enkei RP03's in 18x9.5 (+38 offset). Perfect fit and offset, tons of brake clearance, a little over 20 lbs. each, and under $350 each. (I have them in 17x9.5).

Hi m8

You got any pics of them on your car please I can see? Can you get them in black?

Also you clearly like to make your car carve corners, well mine understeers badly and was looking at getting Steeda X5 Ball Joint and Bump steer kits, do you think those will help?

Hi there

Yes those do fit but I cant find them anywhere. I need a set of 18x9.5" in black in the correct offset to fit my car, do you know anywhere that has them in stock?

These are the only other pics I have with them on. (Looks like I have a lift because my driveway has a decent slope to it that jacks the suspension up on one side...)

As for the ball joint , that will help correct your front roll center. It *might* help with understeer if you can't get enough negative camber to compensate for the amount of roll you currently have.

The bump steer kit *might* help, if you are getting roll steer up front. It isn't easy to take these measurements, though. You basically have to remove your springs up front, then put the suspension back together. You then cycle the front suspension through its compression range, and take toe readings. If you get added toe-out during compression, you will get roll understeer up front (and roll oversteer if you get added toe-in during compression). Ideally, you want close neutral toe change during the compression range.

You could also be getting roll steer from your rear suspension. Do you have lowering springs? If so, have your corrected the rear lca geometry?

Staggered tires? Have you checked tire pressures?

What are your current suspension mods--this is the best place to start to try and help you out.

Hi m8

Did you post some pics as I cant see them?

I have PM'd you and yep the car is lowered by approx 1" all round with the Saleen racecraft springs.

I have tried different pressures, am I right in thinking that to reduce to understeer I need a lower pressure in the front than the rear. So say 34psi rear and 30psi front would help dial out understeer as I went from 34psi all round to 30psi front and 34psi rear but could not really notice any difference.
