I've been looking all over this site and finding a lot of info. Thought I had my decision down and set but was told by some of my friends that the rims wont fit on my 05 v6 stang and also that the other ones weren't going to look the way I wanted them to. so here's the skinny:

Looking at tirerack and found the 17x8 SVT 2005 Mustang GT Polished w/Clearcoat that fit, however I am told there is a big difference between polished with clearcoat and chrome. My first question is obvious...is there? Just so you know I want it to be chrome, but couldn't find anything chrome on tirerack.

Second, I've also been looking on Ebay (I know good but bad) for rims and I'm sure if any of you guys out there have looked for rims there you will find that one guy is selling like hundreds of 18" or 17" mustang bullit rims for like $800 or something. Here's the address to one of the many he has listed

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...7976647974&rd=1. To give you the specs for it:

Rims are chrome
17 X 8
Offset of 29.5"
5 Lug bolt pattern
Nankang 245/45/R17 tires
And says it is OE (original equipment)

I was told by some people that this guy is wrong about them fitting on the 05's but I am not sure. The specs seem right and what not. If someone could help with yet another tire problem it would be greatly appriciated.

Those guys from that link you provided are IDIOTS!
Do NOT buy from them!
Your friends are correct. Those wheels are NOT made for the '05. The offset is wrong. They would stick out an extra inch from where they should.
Also, those tire sizes are NOT OE for the '05. They are only for the pre-05 cars. If you put those tires and wheels on there, you will increase the wheel well gap and your speedometer won't work right.

Again, those guys are IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!! They're only out to make a buck and don't care if they sell the wrong thing to some unsuspecting new '05 owner.

sorry for the long wait, been working A LOT! lol thanks for the info. I actually bought a set from hot rims or some company with that name. It has a offset of 30, but the rims are 17 by 8. I talked to my same friends and they said I shouldn't have problems, but if the 29.5 stick out by an inch as u say, I'm a little worried because it's only a .5 mm difference.

The stock offset is +45mm. The offset on the ones you linked to on eBay is probably +24mm since that's what was on the pre-05 cars. That means they'll be 21mm (just under an inch) farther out than the stock wheels. Since you're only using 8" wide wheels, maybe it won't look bad. Especially if you don't like the position of the stock wheels & tires.
