I think the halos are closer to 6000k hids but might look ok with 8000k also.

Those Mustang halos look 4300k-5000k. White LED headlights are usually in the 5800k-6200k range and they're have a SLIGHT tint of blue or green depending on the binning.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Here's some shots at night...

Headlights on/halos on/fogs off

Hard to capture the rings at night in pictures. Halos on/headlights off/fogs off.

Halos on

I sometimes run with headlights and fogs on at the same time at night and it looks cool with the bluish white halos surrounding the headlights/fogs.

I'm not familiar with the whole Halo deal, Touring, what is the purpose of the halos anyway besides looks? Are they intended to be daylight running lights or like dusk fog lights or what? I'm guessing they have a seperate switch to turn them on/off When do you use them, besides when your parked and trying to look cool???

2007CalSpec, I'm guessing to be able to turn the halo on and not the light , you have to wire a seperate switch to your dash somewhere right? So you must have a seperate switch somewhere to turn just the Halo on and off right? So now you got Headlight switch/foglight/halo light and any combo ......... Or do you have two extra switches , one for headlight halo's and one for foglight halo's ???? How did you set the switches up???

No extra switches. The headlight halos and fog halos are connected to the parking lamp wires so all I need to do is turn the headlight switch to the "park" position to turn them on. Makes for a clean install without having to cut up the dash to install a switch. I would use them as daytime running lights a lot of times just by switching to "park".

They're not meant to light up the road; same as on bimmers. I use them as daytime running lights and at dusk.

They are not made to light up the road. They are only for looks. your crazy if you drive around at night without your regular lights also.

CalSpec, is there a way to open up the headlights and actually get inside them?? if there is let me know ill tell you how i got mine to look so clean.

They're not for "looks", they're used as DRL's but without wasting the life of the HIDs. Audi uses a series of white LED's for their DRL.

What are you talking about. I had these and i had DRL's on my bimmer. These are not DRL's and these are not white L.E.D's. These are for looks. Which vehical did you have these on?

The new BMW's still use halo's for the DRL and I believe they are CCFL as well, but Audi uses white LED's for their DRL (a line of white LEDs underneath the headlamps, sort of like eyelashes from afar) which are found on their new B8 architecture as well as the R8. DRL's are intended to improve the visibility/identification of your vehicle during the day, but many DRL's use the headlamps at a lower voltage or the same voltage which reduces their lifespan. It's worse when they use your main HIDs that cost $100-$200 per capsule to replace. Having a long-lifespan CCFL halo or string of White LED's is much more preferable.

There's no easy wasy to open them. A lot of people have said to heat them in an oven to melt the glue that holds them together. Not a very safe idea, IMO.

You mean you got into the headlights and did something to the halos? I know some bimmers have the yellowish looking halos and some have the whiter ones. I'm assuming yours were the yellow ones and now you changed them to white?

That makes sense. I'd rather have CCFL halos as DRL's than use up the life of my headlamp/fog bulbs.

Your making stuff up. Yes BMW use's CCFL's that's what i Had on mine but they were not DRL's. I am not saying audi didnt do that but your comparing the bmw Halo's to the audi halo's and you cant do that because they are 2 different systems.

Then your stating that you would rather use The Halo's instead of the H.I.D's.... yea no $hit everyone would but you cant. We are talking about CCFL's here not white L.E.D's.

There's 2 different systems for the halo's. This site here has alot of angel eyes for different cars.
http://www.umnitza.com/index.php?cPath=114_113 Wish this site had them for the Mustang...

The reason they all look brighter is cause they are all aftermarket. The yellow look are the ones that come stock from the factory from BMW.

The reason i asked if you can get into your lights is because your showing alot of glare. If you were to open them and layer the back with aluminum foil the only thing you will see are the halo's at night instead of the glare with it. I have a write up on the BMW forum i just gotta find it.

What i did do that i loved about the setup is i hooked the power to the halo's coming from the interior dome lights. So when you push the unlock button on the remote your halo's would come on. It's the $hit!!!! Dont know if you have them setup like that but you should.

My halos turn on when I unlock my doors too. They're wired into the parking lamps and that's part of the perimeter lighting when you unlock the doors and disarm the alarm.

Audi doesn't use halos but the new B8 based Audis do use WHITE LED's for their DRL. I don't understand what the big deal is. Just use the CCFL halos as DRLs or wire them with the parking lights. I've seen the 08-09 E92 M3s with the CCFL halo used as DRLs from the get go (no other lights were on).
