GT500 Conversion Completed
that "In Process" picture looks pretty bad in the front there. It's looks like it was cracked in the front. Hopefully you got that taken care of and it doesn't crack again later...
Other than that the white came out pretty nicely covering up that red. I bet that cost a pretty penny to have it repaired and painted... Looks like quality work!

I got a great deal on the entire front end, so it was worth a few extra dollars to have it repaired correctly.
Glad to hear you got it worked out nicely. In my area something like that done at a nice shop would cost upwards of $500. Hope you got a good deal. You say you got a good deal on the bumper, but then you also needed parts from KC? I'm curious, what was total damage out the door? A friend of mine is looking to do a conversion and it would be nice if he could find a bumper like you did if it was worth the money instead of going through KC to get the entire kit brand new, ya know? I don't think he would want to start with something that was damaged to begin with.
For those that might be interested, here's the breakdown on what it cost me to do the entire conversion including the painted stripes. The only items I left off were the Shelby lettering, cobra emblems, and GT500 rocker panels (which are the same as the V6 ones). I did the front-end & hood installation & re-wiring of the fog lights prior to taking it the the paint & body shop. I also removed the existing vinyl stripes on the trunk lid, the faux gas cap, & the GT rear spoiler.
Some people have spent upwards of $9k for their conversions when buying all new OEM parts, so I am happy with what it cost me. Many quality body shops charge $2k or more just to remove body panels, paint the Lemans stripes, and re-clear. I really enjoy looking for good deals, even though it was a hassle picking up parts from different people.
Next on the list for me will be Tokico D-Specs & new tires in the Spring. My daughter is going to college next year, so my mod money will be slim soon!
- Entire used front end including shipping (upper & lower grilles, headlight buckets, front bumper cover, fog lights, turn signals) $940
- OEM GT500 hood pre-painted with hood vents and mat (local pick-up) $400
- Rear bumper cover- new (local pick-up) $220
- OEM rear spoiler pre-painted, including shipping $165
- Misc brackets, splash guards, fog light pigtails, & fasteners from KC $350
- Paint & bodywork $2350
- Custom rocker panel stripes w/shipping $45

Looks great. I did mine also, but without the rear bumper.Mine was considerable less, that is because I have a body shop that doesn't charge me.
I like the painted spoiler, looks sick. Good luck with the rest of the build.
