I've got the Xenon scoops and they are only held by tape only...prep the area by using rubbing alcohol to clean the entire area around where the scoop will attach, peel the tape, stick, and enjoy. Don't sweat it, the tape will hold them on there just fine.

don't drill. I used the tape alone and they have been fine since July. IF you decide to remove them later you can always just poo them off but if you have holes then you have to have them filled and painted. Even if the paint did fade, it would be cheaper to just shoot that one section then to have it filled, and then you'd have bondo on the car and you're still going to have to get it painted.

The 3m tape will hold fine. The front of these scoops is not open like the cervinnis and the rest. There is no place for the air to get stuck and create drag, it will just flow around them.

Drag is drag if the air has no place to go. i.e perforated with dead end is same as not perforated, the air still has to flow past the external obstruction

Yes I am, as a matter of fact, I'm in Twin Lakes. The Twin Lakes Polka? Lake Marie and Lake Elizabeth? Outside of Lake Geneva.

Well it finally got warm enough for me to install the other side today. I took my car over to my painter in Magnolia TX because I was really having trouble with the top rear corner lifting up on the one that I had already installed. It wants to lift up because at least my scoops don't fit the body contour as well as they could.

I retaped the RH side one because the tape had gotten contaminated. After going to 6 or so auto parts stores I bought the 3M tape (they all had it except for one). According to my painter the gray stuff is the strongest and by luck that is what I had gotten. Some drama getting the second scoop on straight becasue one of the two holes I had carefully drilled had drifted. A little elogating the pin hole in the scoop allowed us to get the position on the car spot on.

We were fighting the lift on the top rear corner on that one too ... what finally saved the day was pushing very firmly on the pins ... a few pop's later and the corner laid down perfectly. My guy also had a special surface activator to improve the bond to the paint (the surfaces outside the boundary of the scoop are carefully masked off to keep that stuff off the exposed paint), and it worked like magic when we applied it to the other side too which has been lifted for about two weeks.

So for me, I am still a firm believer in installing with the pins. They are not just for looks.

Well... the moment of truth has come and gone - I finally installed them!

AND... I chickened out at the moment of applying the drill to my quarter panel.

The scoops are merely taped on.

I did, however, get some beefier 3M tape than the stuff that came with the scoops.

My question to those of you that only taped them on: Any problems so far? My scoops appear to be not quite flush on the upper rear portions. I can grab them and pull and nothing happens, but I am wondering just how solid this install is?

Any info would be appreciated...

OH.. and NO MORE HIJACKING THIS THREAD!@

Mine are still A-OK. I have about a 1/32nd-1/16th gap in the upper corners. After closer examination, the problem is not due to insufficient contact with the 3M tape, but a slight flaw in how the scoops are sandwitched together(there is an inner and outer piece). The push pins definitely would not have helped as you can push on the scoops in the general area where they would've been connected and the corners are still un-effected. It's no big deal, but this is why I elected to go with a Ford product in thinking that it would have fit perfect; close, but not perfect. I am still very confident that they will not go anywhere unless I want them to... Still undecided whether "this" will be a permanent mod

Well the pins really made the difference on how well the part laid down for me. I had a lot of lift on the rear top corners ... after we really pushed down hard over the pins to get them engaged futher, both panels pulled down much tighter. One side nearly perfect, the other with just a little bit of corner lift remaining.

Maybe mine were poor quality, but I expected them to fit the body panel better than I experienced.

Precisely why I didn't want to drill!!!!

I figure if I don't like the look I can dump the scoops at a future time. I just don't want them flying off though.

Hmmm... well, I guess I will have to live with the gap for now! We will see...

Thanks guys for your input.
