1. Is it surprising that there are so few hoods available for the new 'stang? There were so many aftermarket hoods/scoops for the '04. Do you think that the near future will bring a lot of new choices for the '05, or am I just impatient?

2. I know the general opinions concerning non-functional hood scoops. Is there any reasonable way to make a hoodscoop funtional and effective?

3. I've read negative opinions about bond-on/bolt-on hoodscoops. Why are these looked down upon?

4. Is the '05 hood too large for a '65-'66 Shelby style scoop?

5. Which scoop, available or not, fits the '05 bodystyle the best?

I personnally like the Roush hood scoop. That's what I'm gonna get for mine, looks old school. I'm gonna do mods under the hood to take care of hp. I just think a scoop will look great on such a big hood. Everyone has thier own oppinion and that's the one I like. Give them about a year and there should be some more running around out there.

1. Yes you are being impatient. . JK, the car just came out so give it some time and you will find what you want

2. Buy the Shaker scoop from cdc. or if you get a hood with reverse cuts you can open them up to extract heat from the engine.

3. It is commonly construed a a ricelike addition. People on boards like these (me included) trash rice all the time but then a few say "oh i'm adding such and such " when in reality it is no better than what the civic owner is doing. For example someone may want to put a scoop on because it looks cool, but that is the same reason some kid puts a whale tail on his import, he thinks it looks cool. A hood scoop is one of those additions that really isn't that big of a deal but some people think because it doesn't add any performance aspect to the car it is better left off.
I for one only want a hood scoop if it is functioinal, though i also want louvers that have no performace benefit.

4. No, it is all in how the scoop is developed.

5. I prefer the functional scoop from cdc. Though it is expensive it is a good size and adds alot to the front in my opinion, so that is the one I want.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Stoic. I have been going back and forth about whether I wanted my new 'stang to be reminiscent of a Boss/Mach1 or a Shelby. After literally months of struggling, I think I have decided on the Shelby approach. I just love the CDC Shaker, but it certainly doesn't say Shelby. (I had thought that a Mineral Grey GT done like a '70 Mach1 would be awesome, but I'm getting a Sonic Blue and Shelbyizing it, within reason). To me the '05 body says '66 Shelby, but most of the mods I see out there are saying '67. There is a functional (supposedly) hood that looks like the '67, but none so far in a '66 version. I do need more patience, I guess. I haven't even ordered yet, but I'm doing the Pony Drive thing and want to have all of my plans ready to mod the car when I get it June 11th. I need to stay off of this blasted website so I can think of something else for a change!

I'm going for the '65-'66 Shelby look on my car... ultimately. So, I bought a cheap reproduction fiberglass mold-on hood scoop from a '65/'66 Shelby and will eventually rivet and mold it onto my stock hood. After cutting out a hole in the hood first so that it's functional, of course. I have put the scoop on the hood to see what it looks like, and it fits the hood perfectly. I think it's going to look great. Especially after I have the hood re-painted and have my black Shelby stripes painted on. Not like I can tell you guys I'll have pics soon. That modification (including having my stripes painted on) is going to cost close to three grand, so it will be a while.
