Ford Plenum Cover Rub Marks

Shortly after installing the Ford Plenum Cover, I'm starting to get black rub marks on the top middle of the cover from the hood liner. I tried cleaning it off but I think it's the plenum paint coming off.

Anyone have this problem and does anyone have a fix?

have the same problem and i do not think it is fixable, but then again MWAG makes the fuel rail covers the same color as the factory frod cover so if they sell a touch up paint it would be awesome

This was a prior topic. Some people have had luck using carpet tape between the hood liner & hood. I never got that ambitious, I keep a folded washcloth on top of the cover where the liner contacts. Stays in place & keeps the paint from wearing off.

i had the same problems, but with the fuel rail covers from MWAG. I called them and they do not sell touchup paint. I tried calling ford to see if they had the touchup paint and they didn't even know what I was talking about . So I went to a local hobby store and checked out their paints, found one called aluminum and tried it and it matched almost perfectly, if I look close you can see where I touched up but from a distance it looks great. Hope this helps.

In a previous post I believe 05stangkc instructed how to fix the rubbing problem. Something about changing the way the thing is mounted.

I noticed the hood liner sags a little in the center.
Has anybody tried to fasten it tight up to the hood
or cut out a rectangle for clearance.

This fix doesn't really work. Tried it. The 2007 owners are lucky because the hood liner is different than the ones on the 2005-2006 cars. I figure for $49 for the intake cover who cares. When it gets ugly enough I'll just buy a new one.
