Finally got my b9 scoop and louvers on!
Well, after long contemplation, I decided to grow a pair and break out the drill and put some new holes in my hood. I didn't have the Cervinis template for the B9 hood scoop, so I made my own. I laid down the template, measured, measured and measured some more. It was now time to drill. The drilling was pretty easy, though I did not double check under the hood to make sure that the bit went all the way through. I spotted the scoop and peeled off the 3M backing. OOPS. The front holes only went through the hood, it didn't go through the other sheet of metal. So I had to pry the scoop back a bit so I could have enough room to drill again. I drilled and then set it back in place. Now it was time to see if my measurements and template were right. Low and behold they were, screws went right in and now I don't have to worry about that thing flying off. The louvers were easy, just measure and stick. It was actually pretty scary to drill holes in a perfectly good hood. Well, it did make it a bit easier when on the way to work this morning, some guy in a Superduty Ford truck hit a dip in the road and dirt and gravel flew out. It was like slow motion, felt like I was in the MATRIX. I could actually see this big piece of gravel bounce off the road and then BANG, bang, bang, bang, bang. I got one nice chip on the lip of the hood and about 5 or 6 small chips along with it. So I just figured if I screwed up the hood, I could do something to make it work. As a daily driver it isn't going to stay perfect forever. Here's some pics of my new scoop, louvers and headlight covers. It is a bit dirty, that nice CA dust. I just washed it on Tuesday.
