Well, I finally decided to go and get stripes donel They will be vinyl stripes (I can remove if I really don't like them). I am going with 10.5 inches wide with a 1.5 inch gap in flat black (on Mineral Grey). They will be installed on Tuesday, so I will post some pictures after.
Can't wait.....I hope

I'm curious, why flat black? I think flat looks better than gloss on a rear black out panel, but not sure about the stripes. There was a yellow one on here a while back that had flat black and it just didn't look right to.

Do you have any pics of one with flat black?

Many of the old muscle cars had flat black racing stripes. Gloss black vinyl shows swirl marks easily too. There is a vinyl that is half way between flat and gloss, I may go that route.
I am getting them done at SHC Autographix. I know John and Joe there and they gave me a pretty sweet deal. I will see you on the 17th at Gyro park.

I also don't recommend flat black. Maybe the 50/50 flat/glossy. But straight flat black will look odd. You said that many old school cars had flat racing stripes. What cars did you mean, and do you have any pics? All the old Shelby Mustangs, as far as I know, had glossy rally stripes.
Flat black vinyl shows scratches a lot easier than gloss black does. Then again, if I was to get black stripes I would have them painted. I know, I know, I always talk about vinyl, however, just like a black car shows scratches and swirls easier than any other colour, black vinyl is pretty bad unless it has a metallic in it to hide some of the marks.

I definately am going with the flat, or matt, black. The vinyl guy agreed that gloss black will get swirl marks over time. The flat black is more subtle, I like stealthy (though 2 big stripes is not that stealthy) over flashy. There were a bunch of young kids hanging around the place (car customizing shop) like it was a candy store. So I took 2 rolls (gloss and flat black) out to the car, rolled them out on the car and asked what they thought. They all agreed the flat black looked better.
One said give me your keys for a bit and then I will give you my opinion. I said "AHHHHHH......no"
I should have pictures up tomorrow night.

Well they messed up due to their bad communication skills. They didn't have enough vinyl material in flat black due to the fact one part of the shop didn't know they were doing my car. So....it is not done yet and won't be for another week. Oh well, I can wait. Maybe I will change my mind again in a weeks time??
