Am I going to lower my GT one inch all the way around, and was wondering if I should order the tokico Hp shocks and struts to go along with it. Are those really needed for such a small drop?

 

You have the original 7 year old shocks on there now? Then definitely need some newer/better ones. If not, you can wear out your current ones while you wait for the ride to deteriorate enough to replace them. Of course, that means tearing apart the MacPherson strut in the front again to replace the shock...

How many miles you have total?

I just pulled out my Vogtland GT springs, Tokico D-spec shocks, replaced with coil-overs and adjustable perch springs in the rear, suspect mine still have some life in them...

 

Yeah that's what I've been hearing. That once I'm in there I might as well do everything. My car is seven years old, but only had 60 k on it.

 

I should have upgraded my shocks and struts when I lowered mine. If you've got the cash I say do it. Save the headache of tearing it apart again later.

 

Easy answer; yes.

 

I left my stock shocks in when I dropped my car 1", did all the work myself and have plenty of free time so going back just gives me something to do this summer.

 

Did you notice a significant difference from stock because you didn't?

 

It's a bumpier ride I think... I don't know whether upgrading the shocks and struts would make a smoother ride but my car had 50k plus when I lowered it so I should have spent the extra $ and went ahead and upgraded.

 

yes upgrade the struts and shocks but go with the Koni srtt over the tokico's

 

Agreed, Koni are the quality ones, Tokico eh. Bilstein another good option, but just as expensive.

 

I have tokico hps with no complaints.

I have a full set of adjustable D-specs sitting in my garage, will sell them for cheap! Less than 20k miles on them.

They're just not the quality of the Koni, and warranty coverage sucks.

However, Tokico anything is better than stock or any bargain brand at the local AutoZone.

 

I had no complaints on the tokico's either but moving up to the Koni's was a marked improvement.
