Dan: 275s on 17 x 9 are great for hogging the road and give a great ride. The one negative in comparisson to 245s on 17 x 8 is the turning cycle when making making a 180 degree turn. The angle seems wider. The best example I can come up with is making a U turn to a two lane road. You have to be ready to shift to reverse and keep the oncoming traffic in mind.
Thanks george!

Dan, I don't know about you... but after seeing 38special's 255's, I am sold on 255 instead of 275. And I can keep my stock wheels too. 255's look great on this car. And you get the best of both worlds... better handling, more meat on the road... but they aren't too wide to make wet driving difficult. I might add some 1/4"-1/2" spacers also once I get the new rubber, to bring the wheels out a bit more. But, 255's for me.
I really like the 255's to be honest and that is likely what I'll do.

The only thing is these tires will be going on a set of 18x9 rims. For an 8" rim, I'd go 255 max or else the buldge is too big IMO.

But for 9" rims, 275's might fit nicely. The 03/04 Cobras have 17x9 with 275's and they look good.

I'm also looking for a 17x9 wheel (Preferably OE Bullitt replicas) for P275/40R17 ET Street Radial tires for the rear only.... wonderring if this wheel is available & any potential problems clearance wise?

Orange is the happiest color

Can't wait till Ford releases some grabber colors. They're so summery. I love it.

EDIT: sorry for this stupid reply, I didn't notice the thread was 3 pages long.

So was the consensus then that 275's would be too big for the front? I was considering putting 18x9.5's with 275/40-18's all around. Would this work, or would I have to go down to 255's in the front?

Eric - I have 18x9.5's and 275/40's all the way around. I love them. They are the perfet fit. Roush is doing the same thing if that makes you feel better.

At first I was a little reluctant like you but after having Discount tire mount both tires (255 and 275) I liked the 275 much better. It looks sweeeeeeet!

Jason,

Your car looks awesome with that combination of wheels and tires. Thanks for the info. Do you have any problem with tire rub on the front? That's the last thing I'm worried about, is the inside of the tire hitting the inside of the fender wells when the wheel is turned all the way over. And what is the offset of those wheels you have?

Thanks again!

Eric

Eric- there is absolutely no rubbing. I turned the car hard in every direction and no issues. There is plenty of clearance on both sides with the tire turned completely. No issues at all.

My wheels are 45mm offset.
Good Luck!
