I think your car is sick Scott.

, but it is definitely one of those "love it or hate it" colors. Obviously I was a "love it" person otherwise I would have never sought out one of these (took me quite a few years to find one since they only made 253 of them in a convertible). Here's a different shot for reference on the color (back when I had 17" chrome Cobra R's on it): [/b][/quote]grtpmkn, i love ur car. ne idea of how many coupes there were n that color? thats what i'm kinda lookin 4
PS the change to Mach 1 rims from the Cobra R's was one heckuva nice idea

As far as numbers go for the bright tangerine cars, this is what I know about my car:
Total Number of Mustangs sold in 1996: 126,483
How many of these were Bright Tangerine? 829
Of those, how many were convertibles? 253
With black interior/top and a 5-speed? 51
I guess that would make 576 of them coupes.
I also know that there were 5 Saleen conversions of this color. The rarest '96 orange Stang was a convertible with a white leather/black top/5-speed combo. It was 1 of 1 made.

There are slight disadvantages. Lower MPG would be one.

I would love to have 295 0r 310's on the back and stick 275 or 285's on the front. I thought I read a post a long long time ago that said 265's was the biggest that would fit on the front of the 05. Any bigger would rub when the steering wheel was turned all the way.

Dan: 275s on 17 x 9 are great for hogging the road and give a great ride. The one negative in comparisson to 245s on 17 x 8 is the turning cycle when making making a 180 degree turn. The angle seems wider. The best example I can come up with is making a U turn to a two lane road. You have to be ready to shift to reverse and keep the oncoming traffic in mind.
I am going to be putting 275's all the way around, but on my stock 17x8 wheels. I read on a tire site that you can fit 275's on 7.5" to 9.5" width wheels. So, they should be fine on the 8" stock wheels, for any of you who are interested in getting wider rubber on your stock wheels.

My guess on that one would be because of the greater "rolling resistance" (aka more rubber contacting the ground). Weight may be a factor as well.
I know on my Subaru, the difference between my 18" wheels and the factory 16" wheels is 10 pounds per wheel. If 1 pound of rotating mass is equal to 7 pounds of dead weight, that's an additional 280 pounds that I'm carrying with the 18's. I found that on the drag strip this ended up shaving off nearly 3 to 4 tenths every run.

how about production numbers on orange white top white leather and auto

my friend! That looks great with the white Saleen wheels. As far as numbers for your car, I am not aware of them. There were 28 white leather/white top/5-speeds, but I am not sure how many autos with the white. Stewart Jones (Thrdgenreg@aol.com) of the Third Generation National Registry could give you that info. Just drop him an email.
I have an 05 GT and want to put snows on for the winter. I allready have a set of 235/45/ 17's. I know that they are a smaller diameter-25.3" vs 27.2". Other than racking up unnecessary miles i.e 6.8% over on the speedo reading, what other disadvantages are there?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Just wondering (other than price), what any negative effects of putting 275's all around on 18x9 rims are?

The handling however, will be better.
Dan, I don't know about you... but after seeing 38special's 255's, I am sold on 255 instead of 275. And I can keep my stock wheels too. 255's look great on this car. And you get the best of both worlds... better handling, more meat on the road... but they aren't too wide to make wet driving difficult. I might add some 1/4"-1/2" spacers also once I get the new rubber, to bring the wheels out a bit more. But, 255's for me.
