Clearcoat and fenders - a question

okay so heres the deal - about two years ago i had vinyl boss 302 style sidestripes (from BSM) put on my TR mustang. a year later, in 08, i rear ended someone and wound up getting a new hood and having the front bumper repainted. the fenders were blended with clearcoat over the stripes. Im contemplating changing my stripes, and Im wondering what would be involved in removing the fender pieces of the stripe - would I need to have the fenders re-cleared? would they only need to be wet-sanded to eliminate the outline of the stripe? bear in mind that the stripes were applied over the pre-existing clearcoat. Also, about how much should a job like this run me? Im thinking of getting a GT bumper next year and might get this done at the same time. . .

As far as I know you will be sanding and reclearing the fenders. Clearing over vinyl is never a good idea.

not a problem unless you ever want to ever remove the vinyl stripe. It will leave a ridge in the clear coat and probably peel it when you take the stripe off. This will require alot of sanding to get the area where the stripe was even with the rest of the fender.
