Clear Corner Lens Install
New Clear Corner Lens Installed...A Little Loose?
Daryl,
Thanks for the write-up on the installation, it helped me alot on my install. But after I installed the new lens, it seemed very loose. When moving the new lens around, it had alot of play, more than the stock lens. I made sure that the clips were all the way through the holes, but it still seems loose.
Did you notice this on your install?

I got mine installed last night, I can only make some recommendations on the base install instructions posted earlier.
You don't just "remove" the liner. You wrassle with the liner. I found it very helpful to have a trim removal tool or plastic wedge to pop the liner away from the seam between the bumper and fender, that part took me forever. I was being gentle and I just figured out after fighting with it that you hav eto get a bit aggressive with the liner or you'll get nowhere.
Also the clips that you have to remove have a phillips head on it, but you only have to turn them like a quarter turn to pop the centre out. I kept twisting and twisting execting them to come out but didn't realize the way the clip works.
Hope that provides some additional help to anyone else doing the install.

So I HAD to install them on my lunch brake with the fried egg option. It will be easy enough to swap out the bulbs later this week.
I didnt take the wheel well cover off...drove up on ramps and took the bottom 2 screws out and poped the liner out a little bit. That gave me enough room to get dirt in my eyes, swap out the lenses, and sweat my butt off!
Looks pretty clean...but now I just need my hood (tomorrow) and my center fog gril (2-3 weeks) and it will be looking pretty sharp up there!

Yeah they're pretty slick. I ordered them at the same time as I ordered the lenses at Jegs but got them first. Turns out Jegs decided to allay shipping my lenses for a few days (who knows why) and the guys I got the bulbs from beat the lenses here by 5 days. Wish I could remember where I bought them from, I'd post it here they had really good service. If anyone is still looking I'll dig it up tonight.
I got my bulbs from the link in this thread...they were real nice too...the guy I talked to actualy is on the mustang boards.
I was thinking about the looseness of the new clear corners too...I would think if you wanted you could use a washer to slip over the two white tabs that hold the lense in. Once the lense is installed just slide a washer over the white tab (untill it clicks in like the lense) and maybe that will take some slack out. Might try it when my bulbs come in and im under there again getting dirt in my eyes lol

I don't know if anyone is interested or not, but I've read a couple of questions/comments about whether clear corner signals are legal if a stealth bulb is installed. After a bit of hunting around, I found the following regulations on the CT DMV site, at this link: http://www.cga.ct.gov/2005/pub/Chap2...#Sec14-96y.htm
Note my emphasis in the second paragraph -- so as long as its amber or white when it's flashing, it's fine.

(b) Any vehicle, when required under subsection (b) of section 14-96e, shall be equipped with electric turn signals which shall indicate an intention to turn by flashing lights showing to the front and rear of a vehicle or on a combination of vehicles on the side of the vehicle or combination toward which the turn is to be made. I have a little too much time on my hands, I guess. I pulled the trigger and ordered the APC turn signals!!! I decided that the clear looks MUCH better on a black 'Stang than the amber lenses.
Now the bad part:
RE: Stealth bulbs: Am I correct in understanding that I must replace FOUR bulbs at 30 bucks a whack? THAT is freaking NUTZ. I don't want the "egg yolk" look but I don't want to get screwed when replacing the bulbs either by paying a buck twenty for freaking LIGHT BULBS.
(um, yes, I know I blew a grand on HID lights, please don't rub it in...)
Any ideas? Are there suitable amber LED replacements out on the market yet?
