Clear Bra removal

Has anyone ever removed the clear bra? And did it muck up the paint?

If removed properly shouldn't have any paint issues. I have installed many clear kits & install vinyl for a living. Use a heat gun (not a hair dryer) to warm area to be removed, will be at right temperature when adhesive sticks to vinyl & not the paint. Remove any excess residue, mainly on edges with goo gone. Hope this helps you out.

This is correct, they removed it on my dad's Corvette awhile back. Why are you removing it?

Actually you are better off using a hair dryer than you are a heat gun unless you have a lot of experience in this area. I was an installer/manager at a sign shop and rarely ever had to use a heat gun compared to using a hair dryer. The adhesive used on the vinyl does not require a lot of heat. You can even just park your car out in direct sunlight on a hot day (anything above 80 would be fine) and pull it off.

Goo gone works great to remove the adhesive, just don't use it on a hot surface or in direct sunlight. Then wash down the entire area. You do not want to leave goo gone on the paint.

I traded out my painted striped hood for a plain grabber hood without the fake hood scoop.I don't drive the car that much to worry about the clear bra this plain hood has.I'm not very fond of the seam the clear bra has on that clear coat.

Thanks for all the input everyone.

It came of fairly easy. Its time consuming though. As I peeled it back with the hair dryer I applied the heat to the top side of the bra and worked my way from one end to the other.A clean pair of shop gloves helps because even the hair dryer gets pretty hot
