CDC LED Turn Signal Mirrors
Heads up guys and gals! CDC has a clearance going on the 05-09 LED turn signal mirrors. They cut the price to $125.00 plus shipping. I have been wanting these for a long time, but could not justify spending over $200.00 on a mirror. I just ordered them and will post pics of the completed project once I get them installed.
I suppose you could modify them to be dimmer at night. I know a quick way to do it just off the top of my head. I don't worry about night driving since I am blind as a bat at night.
You're right, didn't think that one through all the way. What I was driving at would be I'd love to have a kit that combined the A47 mirrors looks with this functionality. I'm all about anything that makes you more visible when changing lanes.
Ooohh, thanks for the find. I got the directional mirror covers a while back but haven't wired them up yet (trust me, it's a pain, have to go through the door, inside, drill a hole in the kick panel metal, through the firewall, through the fender, to the turn signal -- it's the same for this, unless you want it to function as a brake light http://www.kwmuth.com/techsupport/pdfs/21001140.pdf).
Might just grab these, too, now everyone will be able to see me signal!

Ah! I misunderstood... doh! No, they don't dim like the inside rearview electro-chromatic mirror. But, they are made of what Muth (the manufacturer) calls "blue" glass, which provides an anti-glare function to the mirror, vs clear glass.
Oh boy, have fun! I had these on my 05 - to put it nicely they are a royal PIA to install!
You need to run a wire from the mirror to behind the passenger headlight in order to get the turn signals to work. That part is not a pain, what is a pain is fishing the wire through the door grommet and into the kick panels of the car.
The blue hue to them is great at night and they do look sharp! I like mine and many people where surprised when they saw them work.
Just be aware, these take some time to install. Be patient and you will be fine. Be stupid and you will break the guts of the mirror ( I did and had to order a replacement )

Yeah, the mirror removal is not the easiest, I snapped off one tab on each back side, there's eight in a circular pattern if I remember right. But, that's not a big deal for these cause those are the pieces that are replaced with this kit, and snapping the new mirror back in is not difficult.
Once I get these, I'm gonna wire up both the mirror part and the frontside LEDs all at once.
I've done the through the firewall and the wheel well thing before, when I did the stereo install, but with 0 gauge cable, so this shouldn't be as bad in that regard. The through the door, though, not looking forward to that.
Still, will take at least a half day I'd guess.

It is fun, took me about a day to do as I also soldered all the wiring connections and heat wrapped them as well.
Look forward to pics and thoughts when you are done.
