Question CDC Hood Strut replacements

So I now have a new heavier fiberglass hood, and the CDC hood struts aren't strong enough to hold the hood up any longer. Does anyone know of a strut that's the same size but stronger so as it will keep my hood up at shows?

Thanks,
-danny

Why buy new struts? If you just one to keep the hood up for the show, here is an affordable mod...
cut an 6" long pvc pipe with the diameter a bit bigger the your struts. Then cut about 1/4" along the pipe (see pix). and just snap them on......

That’s an awesome idea, and one of the many reasons I love this forum!

The PVC is not a bad idea just not a permanent solution.

Go to my favorite site mcmaster.com and search for gas strut.

I've been wanting them for a long time, too. I have a steel hood that the MRT struts just can't hold up (I believe CDC and MRT have the same kit). I spoke to Scott Hoag a couple of times about this, but they source their struts from a 3rd party, and couldn't come up with a stronger strut for me to use. The pvc idea's not bad, I might use that short term, but I would really like to get struts that work right. I'll see what I can find on mcmaster.com
