I was under the impression that Saleens roof and this one were the same.
Is this not the case?

The glass has an interlayer that blocks 95% of UV rays. It also acts as SPF 50+ sunblock. However like mentioned in a previous post, it can also be tinted. The Saleen roof is not available yet. Just some info.

Cooool. Thanks for the info. I'll save that site.

I volunteer to be a test vehicle for the Carolina's. Don't they need another tester?

No thanks, not my thing. These don't look as good as Saleen's version in my opinion.

i think the saleen roof looks considerably better. I read a forum about how the glass roof is installed, the rear glass is not sunk in or anything, its actualy weatherstripping that causes the sunk in look. The bottom of the glass sits on top of where the roof was i believe.

its sweet though i would be interested in a glas roof, but i would prefer the saleen version.

From what I saw on an installed car, you are correct. They just cut the sheet metal off, place the glass on top of the existing roof line, then seal it all up. The thing I don't like about it is the bulky weatherstripping, which I guess is necessary? The inside is finished with a new headliner. Since I just got the new headliner put in, I will be skipping this for now......but it does look pretty good and it's really not that hot inside (Florida heat for that matter). They did a pretty good job with the glass, darker that a vert (duh).....

How do you get "welcome to yesterday" out of it? I saw it back in 2004, but it wasn't available. Its not yesterdays news, if it just became available to the public.

'cause we've been over this, waiting on CDC to finally put this out!! They would've had my money IF they put it out six months ago. But too late now, well maybe, unless, well I could change my mind.

I just felt like the yesterday comment 'cause we've discussed this SO much, but when you-know-who brings it up. OHHHaaahhhhh

yeah glass will add weight, at least with my car, i am not looking to beat anybody on a track or anything, so i would love to haev this. My 07 will be my first car that does not have a sunroof, and i think i am going to miss it. I am just kinda trying to find something to open it up a little. but i dont kow, this is a little too expensive for me. Especially with the way it is installed. i would hope saleen would make a retrofit, their roof looks much nicer.

My question is, how will affect racing? We all know convertables dont do well as hardtops in drag racing and road racing. So how will this do?

I've been told that it actually adds stiffness because no bracing is cut out and the flimsy piece of sheet metal is replaced with a more rigid piece of laminated glass.

A local, well known auto custom shop here in Tucson, AZ was already advertising glassback installs during the Indy 500 yesterday. That was fast!

CDC had their "test mule" with the roof aat the MCA Regional Show in Johnson City this weekend. Talking to the guy, they twisted/torqued the car to test the roof and he made the statement it was more solid than stock - for what its worth
