CDC Glassback!

Webasto Product North America Partners with Classic Design Concepts to Sell Glass Panoramic Roof for the Ford Mustang

FENTON, Mich. – Since the Glassback® concept roof debuted at the 2004 SEMA Show, it has arguably been one of the most anticipated products for the popular 2005+ Ford Mustang. To meet this high demand, sunroof giant Webasto Product North America, Inc., and the Mustang specialists at Classic Design Concepts (CDC) announce their partnership.

The laminated panoramic glass roof will be manufactured in the United States by CDC and distributed throughout North America by Webasto. With hundreds of authorized installers servicing new car dealerships across North America, Webasto will make the Glassback® available as an option on new and used vehicle purchases. Enthusiasts who already have purchased Mustangs will be able to have their vehicles’ "retrofitted" by contacting Webasto or the nearest Glassback® authorized installer.

The Glassback® roof takes the classic fastback look of the Mustang coupe and adds the open-air feeling of a convertible. The high performance solar glass runs from A- to B- pillar, radically opening up the interior and adding sunshine without the wind or noise. Innovative Vanceva® PVB technology protects the interior from the sun’s UVA and UVB radiation. The roof’s 50+ ultraviolet protection factor (the highest rating available), helps keep passengers cool. The roof will be available in select areas by the middle of May, 2006. For additional information go to GlassbackRoof.com.

CDC is a company of Quantum Tecstar (Nasdaq: QTWW).

interesting how it sinks the rear window a bit. Wonder is you can get the roof withouth the Glassback wording on it. I wouldn't be paying that much just to give them free advertising.

Thanks for the new update Brad, that sure is sweet looking. If I didn't have my car striped, I think I would go for this look. Any idea on price for this?

if you have to ask, you can't afford it Not my cup of tea either, but to each their own. The lettering is definately unnecessary

Because prices and labor rates will vary depending on region, contact your local Glassback Authorized Installer for pricing.

well, I'm going to ask again (I'm supposing the website name requires a response):

Brad - how much?
and what's going on with the back glass?

On another thread it was mentioned $2,499 with labor, before Taxes here in FL... I'm sure everyone will be running around that.

Donna,
Installers in the Carolinas will be available soon...within the next couple of weeks. Price will be a little more than $2500, but definately less than $4000.

Although cool on a concept, I don't think these are for real-world Mustangs... I mean, your interior WILL fade much faster and do you really want a clear roof over your head ALL the time? I think Saleen's roof is nicer, but it's only available directly on their new cars. If this had like a shade accessory, that would make my complaint a moot point.

If it was a throw-up between a supercharger for 3 grand, or the glassback, I would go with the SC.

BUT: If I already had a supercharger (and a '05 GT at that!) I would definitely purchase this. My friend's mini has a glass roof, and you never feel boxed in. I loved the openness of his car. Combine that with a mustang, and you have pure heaven! (and pure debt!)
