OK everybody how does it feel? I can truthfully say over and above wishful thinking that this is a definite plus on the cars handling.

Thumbs up Nice weather = paint jobs

Hey since the weather was nice here in Chi-town, I was able to do some painting to my Bullitt Stuff.

What do you think?

I used the following Dupli-Colors:
  • NG FM 306 Cardinal Red
  • NG FM 335 Perfirmance White
  • NG CC 422 Intense Blue Pearl (I know this is a chrysler color but there wasn't a good blue in the Ford colors to choose from. They had a navy color but I figured that wouldn't work.)
When doing this I started with the blue and filled in the oval. You can try and be careful not to get it on the letters but it doesn't really matter because they are being painted over. (You need to make sure that it is completly dry if you are paintin over).
When it was dry I used the cool ball point end to do the lettering to get it started. Then I came back over it with the brush and a stedy hand. Start from the top and work your way down. The Red Racing was done last as that is at the bottom and I didn't want to put my hand in red paint. You can use an Xacto knife it you have a little run off on the white oval or any of the racing letters. Just slice the paint blob at the top and it just peels off. (Don't use a heavy hand.)

I want to do this but I need to wait till I get some more $$ for mods. I am waiting to get some more info from Midwest as to how it looks under the cover (attaches) as you would need to cut away the part where the STB crosses.

Sad news for me. I had gotten one of these STB's because the GT500 one was a little "plain" looking for my taste. Well, tonight I found that there are definite clearance problems with the stock 07 GT500 hood (who would've thought) and the Bullitt STB. It clears the factory engine cover fine but there is some bracing on the underside of the hood that just makes contact with it.

Thanks For Posting the Info! If you are the Brave type You May be Able to Massage the Underside of the Bracing For Additional Clearance. A Slot Cut Side to Side with a HackSaw Not All the Way to the Actual hood and Then Using a Pipe of Slightly Larger Diameter and Then Tapping the Pipe with a Hammer to Indent the Area Would Likely do the Trick. Not for the Sqeemish but a thought! How about a Pic of the Interference Area for a Better Perspective??

Just a Thought!

First off, I want to make it very clear that I have no problems with the brace itself (pictures don't do it justice) or with KC's service. As such, I am very happy with the quality of the brace and his service. I, alone, made the assumption that the Bullitt STB should fit the GT500 hood due to it having a little more engine clearance....but I was wrong

Initially I was considering some sort of mod to the hood bracing like you suggested but being a little squeemish and that I'm seriously considering getting an underhood insulator pretty much settled it for me. Even with the hood bracing "modded" the blanket would get damaged from touching so thats a no go for me. I've posted some pics as you suggested KC so that everyone can see what I'm talking about. Hopefully this will help someone else so that they don't make the same mistake I did. Remember, I have the stock GT500 hood installed, not the stock GT hood.

The first pic shows the underside of the hood and what I assume would be the "cut out" in the bracing for the stock GT500 strut tower brace.

The second pic shows a side view of the hood closed about 1/2 way with the Bullitt brace. Note the blue arrows showing the hood cut out relative to the Bullitt STB position. Also keep in mind, for these pictures, the Bullitt brace was only resting on top of the mounting stud nuts. As such, it is sitting about 1/4 inch higher than if it were actually tightened down onto the studs.

Finally, the last pic indicates (red arrows) where the underhood bracing and the Bullitt STB make contact when fully closed.

Hopefully this helps to clarify my "tutorial" of the clearance issue I had. I guess these things can, and do happen. Oh well.......

Stopped by Colorado Mustang today and found the Bullitt brace fresh off the truckAfter one heck of a discount from my friend there, I took it home for some personalization and installed her. I for one love the look.

My side clearance is 11/16" if you need additional clearance remove the nuts from the rear support of the engine cover and you will gain a few fractions.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, Pat and I were talking bout you today as a matter of fact. He feeds me what knowledge I have and sure saves me a dollar when he can. I was talking to him bout the bullitt dash pieces. His look great and I too am interested in this. My interior is the deluxe plain black dash. Nice was the leather trim.
