why spend the money? just cut yours down and put the ball back on, pretty simple and best of all, it's free

I purchased that same antenna from that seller. Works just as good if not better than the stock one.

People who buy shorty antennas are dumb, it takes $2 can of spraypaint and 5 minutes. As short as you want.

I cut mine, looks just like a cut antenna, the ball would not stay on. The diameter of the antenna where I cut it is too small and no amount of super glue seems to work.

So yea it's free but you really do get what you pay for.

I bought a billet antenna from Steeda. It's the nicest looking one IMO.

Seems like no one else had that problem.

One a side note, For the best reception, either cut it down to half or a quarter of the original length.

Cut mine. Just use a round file where you hack-sawed it. Pop the ball back on, and touch it up with paint. I cut mine at 14", and had no problem with the fit at all.

Yea I must be "DUMB!", cause I bought one! Didn't feel like cutting my stock antenna, I was the first one to buy from TopEgdge and the antenna is great, and they still have my car on their website!

i can't get the darn ball off the cut piece - i've tried everything and i've just about mangled it beyond recognition. older mustangs never had this problem...worked fine on my boyfriend's '99.

meh i'm now mad that i cut my oem antenna - i shoulda just put it away and bought a shorty. it's cheap so why not.

Put a plastic bag over the end of the cut piece (to catch the ball when it pops off) Then slide the "rod" through a very small boxed end wrench. Use the wrench to "hammer" or "bang" the ball off the end off the rod.

I know that description sux so if it doesn't make sense, maybe someone else can give it a shot for me... or I can always try to draw a picture.

I cut my antenna down to 3", but I couldn't remove the ball. I used a hard rubber cylindrical cover over the antenna, fixed in place with fast-setting glue. FM reception is still perfect!
You can see the result in this pic (sorry, no close-ups):

Dremel! Best investment ever. The Duct Tape of power tools.

I've performed 2 S197 antenna chops so far. People love em and have seen no sign of reduced reception.
