Best 255/50 tire?

The stock 235's just aren't doing it for me. I need a beefier tire wrapped around the Bullits. Thinking of going with the 255/50, seems like that is the tire size of choice for the stock 17X8's

So what is the best tire? Yes, I want it all, traction, low road noise, long life (yeah right, with traction ), good looks, etc. Live in FL, so mud and snow tires not really needed. But I would like good wet weather performance.

Thanks for the help. What all is out there, and what is best?

I know alot of people here like BFG's, but I love my Bridgestone Potenza's. The traction is great and they perform awesome in the rain. I can get on it pretty hard in the rain with the traction control off. If you go to tirerack.com or other websites they have tests and reviews of different tires to help with the decision.

If you go with a lower profile say 255/45s then you can get high performance tires the only problem is that they are suppose to fit on the stock rims. Diablo and the Xcal 2 can correct the speedo.

I put the Nitto NT 450's on my new Bullit's and got 255/50/17's on them. They look awesome and the car definitely handles better than with the stock set up I had.

I put some Fuzion ZRi's on my GT. It has more lateral grip now and looks much better too. If you check around, you can get some pretty good prices ($100.00) each.

These are the only side shots I have after installing the Fuzions.

Adrenal,
First off, your car looks great
Do you happen to have a full rear shot? I would like to see what the cross-section and treadwidth looks like. Do they have a more squared-off, performance tire look to them? That is the one thing that bugs me about this car; the tires just look like large normal passenger car tires, not performance style tires! Those are the same tires I have thought about getting. I may go with 275's though, I plan on getting 17x9 rims real soon. Couple of other questions:
How does the traction compare to stock? With the aggressive tread pattern, how is the road noise? Lastly, did going from 55 to 50 aspect ratio make the ride any rougher?
Thanks,
jeff

Jeff,
The traction is much better than stock. They bite right away and are remarkable in the curves. Road noise is no different that the stock Pirellis and I can't tell any difference in the ride quality. Sadly this is the only pic I have right now of the rear.

Thanks for the reply Dan. So, I take it you like them then?
Just one more Q: How does the cross section look compared to this pic?
The red is stock of course, the silver is a Saleen. I like the looks of the Saleen tires much more so than the stock ones.
Thanks,
jeff

I have the Fuzion ZRi tires on my wish list, and will either get them or the Bridgestone Potenzas (if I can get a good deal on them at the time I buy new tires). So, thanks for the pics of the Fuzions. Next, I need someone to post some 255/50/17 Bridgestone Potenzas on an '05 GT with stock bullitts. Anyone?

I have used Michelin Pilot Sports in the past and have had good results.

Those are the tires that should have gone on this car IMO. The tread pattern is pretty agressive, but not crazy like the Nittos. And I know those are great tires. I think I am sold.

I would say the cross section is very close. It looks like the Saleen may have 275's, but the Fuzion's are a much better looking tire and perform way better too.
