In most modern convertibles you press the top down/up button, let go of it, and the top will do its thing, maybe beep when it's done.
Anyone know of a modification to accomplish this?

Sounds dangerous to me. I also have a vert and like the fact stuff stops moving when I take my finger off the button. I would bet it would require a bunch of expensive sensors to run the way you suggest. Wouldn't want to crush one of the kids!!

Hate to say it, but you need some glasses. The Webelectric one-touch module is for the verts REAR WINDOWS, not the top. I have it and love it. You must be talking about some other web site, cuz webelectrics does not have a seperate 2005 Mustang section.
Now, about the original question... I agree, the needed safety sensors and installation could be a nightmare. Not to mention the liability question for the manufacturer of such a set-up.

Like I said, it's common on other convertibles (every modern one I've been in apart from the Mustang).
Don't think there's a liability issue any greater than the one for auto-up windows.
Regarding an aftermarket kit for the Mustang, you wouldn't need a ton of sensors, something measuring the resistance on the top motor would be enough.

I dunno, I've been in an Audi TT that had a MANUAL top (the power top being like an $800 option). Not every modern car has a mega-advanced top.

Didn't say they did. Regardless of what else has it, want to know if it can be done on 05+ Mustang.
