Question Anyway to modify stock hoods for extractors?

After reading a good deal about all of the different hoods out there, I have become leary of the fiberglass options. So where does that leave us...with the Saleen Aluminum one? I'm mostly interested in the functionality of the heat/pressure extractors. And would like to see a design that addresses rain water entering the openings and channeled away harmlessly. I need this for a daily driver, in all weather.

So I got to thinking....would it be possible to rework the stock hood to add a Saleen style pressure/heat extractors? Maybe someone can/has come up with a louver insert, that would fit into cutouts in the stock hood?!? Like a inverse hood scoop of sorts? If anyone comes up with something, just PM me for where to send the royalty checks for the idea.

Does anyone have any ideas? Unfortunately I'm 500 miles away from the Stang, so I can't go see if there is a good logical opening in the underside of the stock hood, that could make a good location for cutting open a couple of rectangular holes (maybe 12" wide by 18-24" long).

There are good fiberglass hoods on the market. Just have to be aware of what you are purchasing. We sell both Suncoast and Good Hood fiberglass hoods.

Another option is Carbon Fiber. For those interested in CF, we sell Seibon Carbon Fiber hoods. Have had good success with all three.

Hope that helps some

Are CF hoods as stiff or more stiff than aluminum? I.E. will they not lift and flutter at high speeds?

Lowe,
I emailed Cory at Agent47 about this a month or two ago, since he sells one style of universal heat extractors. http://www.agentfortyseven.com/racing/ventilator.html

As cool as I think the P51 Mustangs are, I don't want that look on my car.

He said something more suited to the S197 is in the works, though...

I don't want that look either, although they are at least on the right track as far as functionality. I wonder if there are any preliminary drawings or photos of what they are working on. I want something so bad, I'm ready to try to design it myself, and find a local machine shop or ABS molder to make them for me.
