Anyone running 275/40/18s on the front or even all 4?

Anyone running 275/40/18s up front, or even all the way around? If you are, give me any pros & cons if you don't mind, and please post some pix.

Thanks,

Tom

275/40/18's all around

I bought my car used and had it delivered directly to a body shop for mods. I never drove it with the original wheels and tires, but I have to believe there wasn't the road noise that I know have with the 275 tires. The front tires are flush with the top of the fender wells, so they kick dirt, rocks, etc. up on the front quarter panels directly behind the wheels.

I really like the look and the ride on the 275/40/18's

This is not a daily driver so I would definitely go with the 275's again. If I had to drive it everyday, I would probably go with a narrower front tire.

Best photo's I have, sorry.

I have 275/40/18's all the way around. I too have increased road noise. I love the look and the car handles great.
I will have to switch out my wheel combo for the track, but in my opinion that isn't a big deal.

Thanks guys; question for both of you: are your cars lowered, and if so, with what springs?

Anyone else got more pix?

Thanks,

Tom

Anyone out there have 275s on the Stock Fanblades?

I'm thinking of going 255 for fronts and 275 on the rear.

Hey Tom,
Well, I can't show you any pictures yet but as you can see from my sig I will be running them soon. I talked with Steeda several time about what is the widest tire and wheel combo I could run on all 4 corners on a stock ride height car. They said 275/40/18 safely. The rims I am getting are 9.5 wide with the proper offset. They also said if I planned on lowering the car I might have rub issues in the front only. The rears would be fine. Since my car is a daily driver I need to be able to rotate the tires so I will probably will not lower my car. Steeda tells me they should ship in 2 weeks now. So I get pics someday.

Yes sir...got the entire package from them. Rims, tires, mounted, balanced, nitrogen filled and delivered to the door. Also comes with new chrome lug nuts. You can work a little better deal with them then what you see on their website.

Mind if I ask what the point of nitrogen filling is? Since the tires will go down over time, can you just fill them up with regular air as needed.

Really means nothing to me either but I believe that nitrogen is not affected by temperature like regular air is so they remain at a constant pressure longer. I also think they do not gain pressure as much if you are driving at high speeds. Again it means nothing to me cause if they get low they are going to get regular air put back in. I think it is meant to impress the performance minded guy.
Scott

P.S. I went out on the web to see what other advantages there was to nitrogen filling tires and one additional thing I read was it does not oxide aluminum wheels like regular air does.

Ok cool.

Man, I gotta admit I'm alittle shocked at tire pricing. You gotta remember, the only tires I've purchased in the last 4 or 5 years is for my '92 GT- 245/45/16. Top shelf BG Goodrich Comp TAs were like $130.

I have them all the way around. FRPP springs

The cons :
1. They like to follow the ruts in the road
2. Toe setting is more critical. Proper toe helps minimize #1
3. Slight increase in road noise
4. Slightly harsher ride compared to factory. Of course, that also depends on tire/sidewall construction

Pro's :
1. More contact patch
2. Better turn in
3. Fills the wheel well better
4. Looks better
5. I like it better

Guys w/ aftermarket wheels and 275s--

What are the specs on your wheels? Specifically: Diameter, width, and offset?

Quick Reply: Anyone running 275/40/18s on the front or even all 4?
