Anyone painted thier scoop black?

As some of you know my car is without the stripes now due to being damaged in a windstorm. I've got it stored for the winter and I'm throwing ideas around for possibly giving it a new look. Vista blue, and had met. silver BSM stripes previously. I will be adding a chin spoiler, and tinting the windows soon. The options I'm loolking at are to leave it clean, go back the way it was, or adding black....chin spoiler, rear panel, rocker stripes, and possibly rear louvers and painting the factory scoop black. So as the title says, if any of you have done this could you post a pic so I could get an idea, or maybe a photochop? Opinions? Thanks.

Whoa hold on a minute!! How did you read my mind!! This is something I'm going to try as well.

I haven't setled on my scoop as of yet. I like the Roush one and I recently started toying with the idea of the 68 - 70 scoop. I'm looking to try the flat black scoop on Vista Blue with the stripe set similar to the 03 Mach's (in white to match pony package white rocker stripes). I have already installed the rear window louvers and 1/4 louvers.

Yep, that's one reason I'm not going that route. It may look good, however, to me it's not worth $700. Myself I like the 68.5 CJ - 70 scoop.

Hence I'm also looking @ a scoop painted black.

You can't ever go wrong with black accents. I have my scoop, rear spoiler, decklid, and the bottom couple inches of the body kit all the way around painted 70/30 flat black.

Thanks for the repies guys. I'm really undecided but like the idea alot. No pics yet? can't go the shaker route as the cut out would leave some of the factory scoop holes and yeah, it's alot of $ for what it is. I will spend the 700 on my CAI and tune first.

The flat black work I have done is 70/30, If I could do it again I'd go 80/20. Here's a few pics so you can see it's a dull finish.

Here's what my factory "scoop" looks like painted black

If the car didn't have everything else I wanted, I would have passed on the scoop. Oh well, a hood is on the shopping list.

forgive me for the dumb question, but what does the 70/30 number mean? I've never heard that before.

Sorry guys it refers to the mix of paint. Straight flat black has a tendency to get "chalky". So if you mix the flat paint with regular paint you can have the look of flat without the chalkiness. My mix was 70% flat paint to 30% regular. I should have went 80% flat to 20% regular.
